1st of all..... how was that gay?
That was just a father and son having a bath together...... No different than in Shogun's Assassin when the father and son had a bath in that as well.
I mean no one thought it was gay when Jairyai was naked having baths with young Naruto
2ndly....... I posted the manga scene from the ep that as of that week had JUST AIRED. I mean if you watched the show, it was as of that day common knowledge

Father and Son.... they only had one bathroom and that whole house. Not everyone in the world is as luxurious as us fellow Americans.
Plus different cultures, in the UK "putting a faq in your mouth" means something COMPLETELY different for what that means here in America
