Why didn't the same 'spark' occur in ANY other species on this planet?
who says dolphin's aren't conscious or other apes? It's clear that apes use their intelligence to solve unique problems they encounter in their environment. Dolphin's are one of the only species of animals who actually commit suicide sometimes, so consciousness has occurred in my opinion in other animals, just not quite on the level it has in human's. we got lucky through evolution, that's all. at some point, they branched off from us, and our path turned out more beneficial, humans are still pretty fukking stupid at times and you can see our animalistic nature and origins every single day.

Everything i said in that post is a fact. You should do your own research though to confirm what i wrote there. Its you. :dj2:

life is miserable without god - not a fact
the only way to live is to turn to god - not a fact

maybe in that sick little world inside your head, these are facts. but as i said before, i dont answer to your played out god. hes on his way out, just like the gods of hundreds of cultures before us. in about 200 years he should be almost irrelevant

O. Statistically life is better with God - fact

I am wrong to say the only way to live is to turn to God because you can turn to satan or your own personal beliefs but you increase your risk for suicide and misery if you do that which is why i say its a better idea, to turn to God, friend.

Try it out.

define "spark". define "consciousness". define "ANY". define "define". we need to know exactly what we're talking about so we can argue about the meanings of these words and completely side-step the real discussion.

He was talking about a 'spark' that "brought about consciousness" being ultimately responsible for morality. Many other species are conscious, even self-conscious, and display their own forms of morality, cultural variance included. The question of "why" humans have developed this in the particular manner we have is either:

1. a question of natural causal history, in the demonstrated absence of anything that establishes an absolute divide between humans and the rest of animal life

and/or

2. misplaced, if there is a built-in theological slant to the "why," as in the religious question "why do we exist?"

Ask the person who made use of those terms. I used 'any' which means: one or some of a thing or number of things. Now that's settled, go suck a dikk and let adults talk.

No, they aren't. That's anthropomorphism and besides the point.

A 'spark that brought about consciousness' doesn't answer the question of how you, an atheist, define 'good' and 'evil'.

No, they aren't. That's anthropomorphism and besides the point.

In order for it to be anthropomorphism, we would have to be needlessly attributing humanity to inhuman entities. To say that an octopus posseses consciousness says nothing about the character of that consciousness, or its translatability into human experience.

As for morality, take everything I said about consciousness, and, once again, one would have to prove that human social behavior was absolutely different, or different in kind, from animal behavior in order to be able to pose your question. There is no good reason to accept that claim unless you accept ultimately theological assumptions, in which case you're already begging the question. On the other hand, both logic and the numerous similarities demonstrated between humans and say, dolphins, including neurological data concerning the same parts of the brain showing activity when similar social behaviors are performed by our two species provides strong reasons for endorsing the contrary position.

A 'spark that brought about consciousness' doesn't answer the question of how you, an atheist, define 'good' and 'evil'.

No, but it points towards a naturalistic explanation that does not inherently require theological premises, unless morality can be demonstrated to exist apart from consciousness, or, if not, that consciousness can be demonstrated to exist apart from nature.

Also, I'm not an atheist in the sense that I would reject any and all possible definitions of God as weak, so I myself do not describe myself with that term. I believe the notions of a personal, anthropomorphic God and a creator of the universe are nonsense, though, along with a First Cause. In the case of my own position, it's a question of semantics. If you're a Spinozist and define god as nature, with no supernaturalism, then I might be a theist.

I just want you to know that the concept of hell does not scare atheists or agnostics. It might scare you because you're a fukking retard who believes stupid ass shyt, but to normal logical folks it's :heh: status. What kind of God sends people to be tortured for an eternity? I wouldn't call that a God at all, sounds a lot like the devil to me. It's funny that you take pleasure in thinking that atheists are actually suffering forever in hell right now. You religious folks are fukking ass-backwards.
