I may be missing some more big games but these off the top.

This is a hard one for me. I can't deny that western developed games have really delivered some incredible series over the past few gens but at the same time Japanese devs have been the cornerstone of some of the best games ever created.

Western gaming has given us a lot over the last 10-15 years but Japan has an incredible legacy in gaming and they are still producing all time classics.

Damn, that's a tough one. Most of my favorite games are pretty even between the two.

I would give the advantage to Japanese games more for the storylines.

I prefer the depth of story telling in Japanese games so I’m rolling with them on this one.

I grew up mainly playing Japanese games and when I was younger I didn't even know why I gravitated towards them but Japanese games have a very different feel to them. More specifically action games like Bayonetta and DMC have such depth and complexity that you would never get in a AAA western game. Things like the combat and storytelling in Japanese games are more intriguing imo but its just personal preference at the end of the day.

But I like them both equally tbh and they both have their own strengths that the other can't or won't do.

Japanese hands down.
Namco in its entirety was left off the list but they made almost all the arcade classics. Also, Tetris is from Russia, so that doesn't count....does it?
