Good point
I think that kind of hurt WSS being compared to In the Heights being they are two type of movies, but share surface comparisons.
Yeah, I saw In the Heights on Broadway and it's cool but it is also light and rather undramatic. West Side Story seems like a more engaging/interesting story. Heard a lot about it all thru my life but never say down and watched it start to finish. My ex-girlfriend and her whole family LOVE West Side Story. It was revered in their household.

I need to watch the original just to compare which one is better

Just curious, is there any garbage explanations/justification of racism?
I'm not trying to spend money to see anything like that

I guess this was another film signed over when Disney brought Fox that had to be shown in theatres first. Even if it bombs.

Like the Last Duel. The audience who'd be into this will wait to see it on streaming.

I'm a fan of the OG, but I don't know about a remake...even though the OG is a Romeo & Juliet remake. I'm gonna have to check this out though

If you get the chance, read on Natalie Wood's history. She was the little girl in the OG Miracle on 34th Street, and Maria in the OG....tragic ending
In the remake they use an actual Latina to play Maria so that's already an upgrade over the OG

Will give it a watch next week for sure. Just like you, I’m not into Broadway like that but the reviews have been glowing and I just can’t pass up the opportunity to see Spielberg kill it on the big screen.

Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
I hated this. Its obvious Spielberg put a lot of love into it though. Nice costumes and dancing. Didn't care for the songs though and I usually love musicals.

Not a fan of microwave romance. Girl meets an ex-con, falls in love with him in less than a day. He kills her brother and she sleeps with him anyway because love conquers all? What an unbelivable crock of shyt. Maria is an a$$hole. The only person I liked was Anita. I don't understand how people can call this the greatest love story when the "love" was so ridiculous its beyond credibility.
