First off, I never watched the original West side Story from the 60s, so I can't compare that movie to the remake. I saw bits and pieces throughout the years, but I never watched the entire movie in full.

With that being said this movie is closer to 80s/90s Spielberg than any of his recent movies. The movie is so full of energy even when the story gets dark towards the end.

The musical scenes can be a little off putting at first, but they are well integrated in the story. I thought I was going in to watch some light musical, but the movie got heavy and dark. There is a tension hanging over the movie by the time you get the third act everything kicks into gear. I don't want to give away any major plot points if you have not seen the movie.

Great acting, great directing, great cinematography. highly recommend

Heard this shyt is flopping hard at the box office. It sounds sexy and artistic in theory but who was the target audience that was supposed to go see this in the theater?

TYRONE GA!
Another movie that would have been better being day and date on streaming.

Some movie genres are just not things people are going to rush out and see post covid lockdowns.

A shame but its the reality.

Alot of old school traditional movie makers treat streaming like its dollar tree and shyt because they are stuck in the old model and ways.

No way this should have gone to theater on a big budget in the current environment.

Older people who have seen the Original already and don't think it's worth the risk to go to theaters to see a remake. lol

Would never go see this in a theater and even tho Spielberg is involved he hasn't made anything excellent for a long time. Not surprised it's flopping. Also didn't another musical come out that was somewhat similar or at least looked similar to this?

In the Heights. NYC set musicals both featuring Latinos heavy.
