We're all agreed that no film has bettered There Will Be Blood since it's release?

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most technically efficient directors ever. From the first frame to the last, every camera movement, every object or character position, it is simply impeccable. Scorsese and Kubrick are his only competition when it comes to framing a shot.

Agreed; people forget that Spike has made 2 of the most breathtaking documentaries ever: 4 Little Girls and When the Levees Broke...those docs I put up there with the best in the past 50 years; I just wish his movies were still like that but his movies have fallen badly recently

Like I said its a masterpiece and makes the book resonate so much more...in 20 years, it will be looked at as a masterpiece in the same vein as the Godfather

:wtf: While TWBB showcases some breathtaking technical craft at times, it has serious focus and pacing issues. PTA didn't have a clear grasp of what he wanted to express, and could not sufficiently finesse the dramatic structure. It's not even a Top 10 film of 2007.

No Country is far better.

Zodiac is better.

Into the Wild is better.

Sunshine is better.

Atonement is better.

Michael Clayton is better.

The Darjeeling Limited is better.

Grindhouse is better.

Ratatouille is better.

I could keep going.

The Master is great.

His most dense and difficult work though. It kinda just drifts along at it's own pace and there's no real sense of resolution but it's a beautiful film and possibly Phil Hoffman's best performance.

Cannot wait for Inherent Vice :banderas:.

PTA & Phoenix renuited

The only movie that you can argue for is No Country For Old Men. Those two are the best films to come out since 2007.

Children of Men may be the only movie I'd take over TWBB and No Country in the last 10 years.
