also 7 wins isn’t really a stretch or a sign on hurt’s play

he could ball out and only win 7 games the discussion is his skills/talents as a qb

The guys in this thread confuse leadership with actual QB ability/production

The guy is a good teammate and has a good attitude...if it doesn't translate to wins, it doesn't matter

I see 5 or 6 wins next season, but stranger things have happened

The purge begins :wow: if we gonna be ass we midas whale but young, cheap and ass

You literally taking the largest dead money hit in the history of the nfl for trading Wentz, 33 million dollars...

Eagles are releasing players not so they can be "cheap", they releasing players cause you don't have any other choice when you paying 33 million for a guy to play somewher else

Wentz was going to be "dead cap money" whether he stayed or not....he was unproductive either way. The problem began when they signed him for the long term a few years back...but we're past that point. you have Jalen on the cheap on a rookie deal..so it works out.

His cap number was the same whether he was on the roster or traded.

That's what made all of this realistic, once he wanted out there was little difference between having a $34m disgruntled backup or a $34m dead hit in another uniform, so they took the assets and cleared his money off the books for 2022 and beyond.

Why don't yall have faith in the Hurts?
I've watched his first couple of games and he looked decent.
I believe when you're up this high you need to look at all options regarding QB. Fields, Wilson and Lance all possess those "mystery box" traits of recent success stories like Allen & Herbert. They're big, they're mobile, and they have the arm talent to hit every throw and create out of ridiculous angles. I'd be happy with any of those them at 6 because of the long-term reward in developing them.

I like Jalen, he's got a lot of good qualities, but he's obviously limited in regards to arm talent (which is why someone who coaches & teammates LOVE, who did nothing but win in college and finish his final year as a heisman runner-up still only had 3rd round projections). His path to being an above-average starter is with anticipation & accuracy to make up for that. He might do it because his work ethic and commitment are next level, but it's gonna be an uphill climb. If all those QBs are gone and/or the team simply isn't sold on one and instead adds a Chase/Smith/Waddle/Pitts to help Hurts I'd be fine with that too.

Majority of 1st round QBs don't even pan out though :what:

Taking some unknown QB when we got holes around the team would be dumb as bell mayne :pachaha:

That's fair, but every non-Luck or Lawrence prospect the last 10 years had a bunch of red flags, that's the risk involved.

Attempting to plug holes is fine, but a really good/All-Pro at any other position doesn't match one at QB and that's the ceiling the guys in play at 6 have (Fields, Wilson, Lance). This is only the 2nd time we're slotted as high as 6 in the past 20 years (excluding the 2016 trades from 13 to 8 to 2), so it's rare territory. If the team does their homework and isn't sold on one of the QBs that's fine, but it's something they have to consider.

Once you build up a roster it's hard to get back in this position, look at the Colts & 9ers - they've plugged holes and accumulated talent but that's made finding a QB like pulling teeth for them. So much so that the Colts had to take a chance on a QB coming off a terrible 2020.

You predicted us winning 7 games even if we kept Wentz tho :dwillhuh:

There's a diff between 7 wins max and 7-8 wins as a baseline

By the last qtr of next season when we're not in playoff contention, attitudes will start to shift

Avant recently spoke with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark about a multitude of topics, including what he saw from Hurts during last season, the awkward situation between Hurts and Carson Wentz and plenty more.

“The thing that I loved about Jalen during this process is that Jalen never has a backup mentality,” Avant said to Clark in the 1-on-1.

“And some guys can be offended by that. You never know. Because if the backup thinks he’s better than you, then that’s OK too. You just have to have strong enough skin to be able to deal in that environment as a coach, as an organization and as the starter. You have to be able to deal with that.

“And that’s the one thing that I’ll say about Jalen, is that Jalen has always thought that he was the best quarterback in the room. And he has never said that. He’s never come out and said that. But his disposition says that. And if that made Carson uncomfortable, no one knows.”
