I already acknowledged that Howie built a great team in 2017. My problem is that team contended only once and then trended downward from 2018 and 2019 even as he doubled down on it before finally hitting rock bottom in 2020. That would suggest that was not a team built to last, like the 2017-2020 Saints, but instead one that caught lightning in a bottle. And that wouldn’t bother me so much, if for the fact that in doubling down on that team has hurt the Eagles’ ability to re-build again in 2021 because they’re financially tied to so many past-their-prime, always-injured veterans.

As far as his 2016-2020 drafting goes, and the six players mentioned, I honestly consider Goedert, Sanders, Seumalo, and Mailtala to have been good players. And only one of those guys – Mailata – plays at a premium position. This is unfortunate because, thanks to having no cap space, the only way for the Eagles to make any moves towards a re-build in 2021 is through the draft.

Again, I must ask - if the goodwill from 2017 wasn't enough to save Wentz and Pederson in the fanbase's eyes, then why are we defending Roseman? 2016-2017 was great, sure, but 2018-2020 matters too.

They didn't fukk with Wentz

been saying this in the thread ...NO ONE except ertz and Kelce fukk with Wentz ..

it sounds like high school but even look at his IG Wentz posts family photos ...picks with his kid that usually garner teammates to comment ....*crickets* Hurts posts you see teammates chime in ...it sounds dumb but it’s telling hurts even has mad players from around the league commenting ....nothing for Wentz cause the league is small and they know he’s a dikk

anyways it’s best he leaves he’s not a good locker room guy / leader at all

Bc it’s simple. A head coach and players are easier to replace than a competent GM. Duh nikka :mjtf:

A bad GM hurts a team far more than a head coach or any one player. Howie has not been competent from 2018-2020. If we're blaming Wentz/Pederson for 2020, we need to blame Howie too. He built that team.

Corey Nelson, Haloti Ngata, Golden Tate, Avonte Maddox, Matt Pryor, Greg Ward, NRC, Will Parks, Jalen Reagor, and Jalen Hurts were not/have not been good football players with the Philadelphia Eagles. The best of them are mediocre.

Daryl Worley (not Morely) never played for the Eagles. You might recall that he got into offseason trouble and was released by the team. Mike Wallace played two games, got hurt, and never played another snap. DJax played one full game in 2019 and only marginally more in 2020. Jordan Howard had half a season of being a decent RB in 2019, missed the second half, and never played any meaningful snaps for the team in 2020.

Michael Bennett, Dallas Goedert, Josh Sweat, Jordan Mailata, and Miles Sanders are the only additions to the team that have proven they can be good football players. Bennett was gone after 2018. Goedert is a TE and Sanders is an RB, neither are premium positions. Sweat and Mailata are two that I'll acknowledge him for. He found them as mid and late-round picks, and they've improved a lot since they were drafted.

Signing Javon Hargrave as a 3rd DT was a stupid move to make when Howie already had Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson on deals and that money could have gone to signing Robby Anderson, who played at a top level in 2020 and could have done far more to help a team coming into the offseason with no WR talent. That’s an indictment on Howie Roseman, not a reason to praise him.

You’re telling me to sit this one out, but you brought in a list made up primarily of backup-quality talent, one-year FAs, and past-their-prime vets who spent most of their Eagles tenure on IR as a defense of Roseman? :dead:

To add to the post above – if one truly wanted to point to Eagles talent acquisitions to defend Roseman, they might consider Rasul Douglas, Ronald Darby, and L.J. Fort. These were players who were actually productive starting-quality talent in 2020. Darby was ranked, I believe, as one of the NFL’s top CBs. That they only became successful outside of Philadelphia could possibly suggest that the problem wasn’t Roseman, but that Jim Schwartz’s defensive scheme wasn’t able to get the best out of them.

Of course, in that instance, you also need to consider that Roseman – who has final say over the 53-man roster – chose to release these guys and instead re-signed Jalen Mills and kept Nate Gerry and Avonte Maddox, who were horrible. So it's ultimately still an indictment of him.

I mean, if you're going to try to argue that Haloti Ngata, Corey Nelson, Matt Pryor, and Nickell Robey-Coleman were quality players in Philadelphia then, yeah, I guess there's really nothing else to say.
Like I said nikka you’re nitpicking. Not every free agent or draft pick is gonna be a starter. For the most part we always had solid starters. We got to the super bowl and won bc he had depth. Carry on tho.

I wouldn’t be mad if we get Micah Parson. Having a good LB can strengthen the overall defense immensely
