The the thing Wimby that people are going to have to make peace with is his game is often time going to look ugly and uncoordinated. Humans that tall are not meant to have high dexterity and agility and basketball is a game that benefits players who have low centers of gravity as their game looks more aesthetically pleasing.

Kevin Durant has insane hand eye coordination for his height and even he looks sloppy sometimes with his handles . My point is Wemby doesn’t exactly pass the eye test for having a smooth game and instilling confidence in outside critics.

Also Hes so freakishly tall, He never had to have a fundamental understanding of offensive and defensive positioning. he often time looks lost on the court and his defense closeouts are often too aggressive resulting in being foul prone. Plus he’s 19 years old and adjusting to life in the NBA and in America.

with all that said this dude is so one of a kind with his height, reflexes, coordination, and straight line speed that he is making up for all of these deficiencies and already making an impact 10 games into the season . And hes only going to get better once he understands spacing in the NBA. That’s how talented this kid is.
