I want to start cutting my hair. I just need some clippers and liners I think. I'm not trying to fade or anything like that just, simple even cut with a line up.

Would you suggest those clippers or would a cheaper optiôn be sufficient.

Most worried about guards not being low enough, the blade catching on my hair (not sharp enough), durability.

Also are there any cleaning/maitenence things I should get too?

Thx

I would suggest starting out with some wahls (clipper/trimmer combo) you can get from walmart since you're just starting out, because the setup I have in the post above are expensive. The good thing about my expensive clippers is that they pretty much last forever, with minimal maintenance other than just keeping them oiled, and getting a good sanitizing/cooling spray.

Thing is I bought some 60 dollar ones from Sally's and the guards were never low enough and it wasn't a smooth cut. I don't mind spending the extra money if its worth it.

how low are you talking?
If thats the case then get some andis masters or Oster fast feed. And buy a complete set of the purple andis magnetic gaurds. They work for both andis and oster brands.

Oh thats not that low, thats a #1 closed gaurd with the grain if you want slightly lower. a little darker you'd just use the same gaurd open.

Forgive me breh I don't know what that means. I put the lowest guard it came on and turned th switch to the lowest it would go.

I pit the lowest guard it came with and turned the switch to for lowest maximum cut and it ended up this length.

Seems like you need to have a little trial and error with your self cuts. I did, so remember its only temporary.

That is definitely a number 2 closed. You just need to buy the equipment I suggested, then look at the gaurds, each of them are numbered.

Also, for your beginners youtube is your friend. I didn't have that when I was 13 learning.

Edit: with the grain means the direction of your hair growth. Against the grain is in the opposite direction, giving a lower cut, but could potentially cut through your wave patterns, if thats a concern of yours

Sorry to keep bothering you but what about these

Perfect, those are the oster fast feeds. a really good clipper. Just buy either a wahl or andis t-outliner for your edge up clippers and you cool.

Edit: I would still buy the andis purple magnetic guards for those clippers as well, because the ones that come with them are notorious for breaking. The are made of a plastic that breaks easily.
