Frankly, I don't understand how you can properly judge crabs given the offenses he's been in as well as the caliber of QBs throwing him the ball. I keep hearing that T. Smith, Hill and Carr were bad QB's....but Crabs had them throwing him balls for like 1/4 of his career. He has better numbers with those QB's for some reason too.

Are yall seriously trying to tell me Crabs would not be putting up good numbers with the Giants and Eli?

I don't know what Crabs is right now...is he a 1 or a 2? I don't know. If his QB can grow some balls and make plays on a consistent basis, then we can properly judge his abilities and see where he's at.

As far as cherry picking...don't we do the same with Alex? Lets also not forget Crabs was coming off an injury. But that doesn't seem to count where Crabs is considered. nikkas still hate dude for holding out and that's pretty much it. Let it go.

again, like Ive said, brandon lloyd showed me more playmaking ability with rattay and rookie alex...in a barren offense pretty much, than crabtree in a better offense.

#1 WRs do well even with shyttiest QBs . just like top QBs do well with even shyttiest WRs

but you dont have to be a #1 WR to put up good numbers in a Giants offense with Eli.
crabtree would be steve smith on the giants. thats exactly who he'd be.
a possession receiver out of the slot. and where is Steve Smith ? good QBs make mediocre wideouts look good and vice versa

no not really...and holding out at this point has nothing to do with anything...

personally I dont have any agenda against or for crabtree...I know its hard to believe because in general posters on here do....but its team first. I dont root for players, I root for the name on the front of the jersey.
thus, once player leaves my squad I couldnt care less about em, with very few exceptions

crabtree wasnt the best receiver on the team, that was VD. a TE who isnt even a natural receiver...a guy who just uses his athleticism for separation... was the go-to guy. vd/morgan have been used in the few games we were behind. crabs had some clutch catches, I agree (like the seattle catch) but in general...he's just not a big playmaker.

a #1 WR is the guy you go to in big games/situations. a guy who defense is knowing is going to get thrown to but they still cant stop it. a playmaker.

As much as I love Vernon, I'm going to have to disagree. Crabtree lead the niners in receptions and receiving yards. VD is a matchup nightmare, and in the playoffs it's about exploiting the matchups.
Veron played like he was on another level in the playoffs, but let's not forget that there was a stretch during the regular season where Vernon wasn't really having an impact on the games. He admitted as much himself when he said he didn't fully understand the playbook and everything he was supposed to be doing. It came together toward the end of the year and during the playoffs and you see what happened.
As far as him not being a playmaker, I'll have to disagree with that, too. When given the opportunities, he's made plays. He disappeared in the 2nd half of the Saints game and the whole NFCCG, and people hate him for it, yet they totally overlook what he did during the season. I don't know, it's just amazing to me...

Uh....no

I'd say 900 yards and 70+ catches in a run first offense is doing pretty well, wouldn't you? Name these receivers though. I know a lot of top receivers whose numbers dropped as soon as their starting QB's were knocked out (Calvin, LarryF...)

but you dont have to be a #1 WR to put up good numbers in a Giants offense with Eli.

If Crabs took Nicks' spot for instance (since they were similar players coming out) I think he'd be a 1000 yard receiver and that would be due in large part to the Giants system and a competent QB. Does Cruz become a star with Alex back there? I don't think so.

If you don't think some fans still hold resentment over him holding out, I don't know what to tell you. We have one that posts here.

Never said you had an agenda. I didn't even quote you. I root for the 9ers...I'm not even a big Crabs fan. I just think a lot of the hate comes from a deep, dark place.

I brought this up on SOHH. Vernon was non-existent for a big stretch during the season. Folk forget him sulking on the sidelines and screaming on the field?

Harbaugh is one weird dude :laff:

SAN FRANCISCO—49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, who has worked with such receiving greats as Tim Brown, Marvin Harrison, and Jerry Rice over the course of his career, found reason to praise his current top pass-catcher last week when he claimed Michael Crabtree has "far and away the most mouth-watering and lickable hands" of any receiver playing today or any he has ever coached. "Larry Fitzgerald's hands are soft and Calvin Johnson's are strong, to be sure, but Michael's are the perfect balance of sweet and savory," Harbaugh said Friday during an interview on Bay Area sports radio station KNBR-680, adding that their unique tang was a major reason Crabtree caught 72 passes in the 2011 season. "They're pretty big, too, so you have to be careful you don't gag on them." When host Kevin Lynch asked, after an extended pause, if Harbaugh was satisfied with the way Crabtree's footwork had improved over his career, Harbaugh refused comment, saying only "feet are gross."

Can't believe B90X riding for Crabtree like that, who are you anyway? Were you a diff name on SOHH? As far as Jlova goes, we know he's a CrabTHREE dikksucker, even going as far as to discredit VD to prop up CrabTHREE

Either way CrabTHREE is a poor man's Keyshawn Johnson at this point, he is not a playmaker at all, if anything he is a possession guy. The only thing I won't knock him for is his hands, he has pretty good hands.

Only problem is he can never get open, there's a reason we went out at got 3 WR's in Draft/FA this year, and it's because CrabTHREE is not a threat.

Good thing is this time next year we wont have to even talk about him, he`ll leave in FA because he`ll demand much more than he is worth and some idiotic team will give it to him.

You are pathetic. I mean, there's nothing more pathetic than a grown ass man editing a player's name to slander him. And you're supposed to be a fan of the team? Pathetic.

Does it even matter If I posted on SOHH? Aren't we all supposed to be Niner fans here? :comeon:

I don't even know where to begin with this. He's not a playmaker...except when he makes plays when we need them. I can think of several times during the season when we needed plays and Crabs came up big, chief among them against Seattle late and also against Detroit in the second half.
I'm not saying the guy is a top receiver in this league, but he's not chopped liver, either. He does everything the coaching staff asks of him to do and, other than 1.5 bad games in the playoffs, he had a solid season.
Honestly, I'm of the impression that no matter what Crabtree does, some people will never be satisfied with him.
The one thing I think Crabtree needs to improve upon is his drops. He had 7 last year, which is far too many. Other than that, I like his improvement and I think this year he'll improve upon the numbers from last year.

Goldson wants that Weddle money...

The bigger stories out of San Francisco (which focus on topics like the gushing over Randy Moss and the contention that the team didn’t pursue Peyton Manning, even if it did) have obscured a development regarding the lack of developments between the team and franchise-tagged safety Dashon Goldson.

Our corporate colleague at CSNBayArea.com, Matt Maiocco, recently reported that Goldson wants Eric Weddle money — five years, $40 million.

As the team’s franchise player, Goldson can at any time sign a one-year, $6.2 million tender offer.

Goldson is the only 49er who has not participated in the team’s offseason workouts. Though few franchise players attend before signing a contract, franchise players are permitted to do so, if they so choose.

We are, just don't know about the validity of some of our "Fans" as of late.

On SOHH we had vets who been in the muck and mire posting in 2007 making game threads, now it seems like we got a lot of newcomers.
