I'm assuming you mean Cesaro, instead of Cody...since the latter is off in singles land after the Dust Brothers breakup.
The Ascension are nowhere near the title picture. After their stiff and boring NXT run, they've been neutered in an entertaining fashion. The best thing they did in the last year was look shook as fukk during a Finn Balor entrance.
And let me go ahead and knock out those fantasy booking squads...Sheamus is getting his heel push, and won't be in a tag team anytime soon. Mark Henry is languishing in his solo return, and would be better suited as a manager/advisor/affiliate for the New Day. They won't re-unite the Wyatt Family - seeing as Bray's about to enter a program with Reigns, Harper is solid in the midcard (and could easily have a fantastic feud with Bray if they wanted), and Rowan's face push flopped (and let's be reality: he's probably been saved by that goddamn sheep mask more than anything else)
The only other tag team that can make a better case for a title shot is the Lucha Dragons...and a win against the New Day did just exactly that: gave them the "#1 contender" cred. I think they're gonna have a program with PTP to keep them hot...if they do just that, they'll take the titles off the Dragons in a few months. Book it.

There's a reason:
they eclipsed The Usos in the title picture
they let Big E cut a promo that started as a few recent tweets
they've received increased mic and TV time
If they were trash, they wouldn't have looked great against Cesaro and Kidd. If they weren't going anywhere, they wouldn't have an angle like they do right now.

New Day is in a good spot. They are getting a reaction from the crowd now which has been better than the indifference they have been receiving the last couple of months. There position reminds me of the Rock when he first got into the WWE. Basically a positive dude who was getting shytted on by the fans. Once they go full heel, if they have even a semblance of the mic skills the Rock had, they should be good. All they need is one guy to be good on the mic, which if Xavier can cut promo's like he did when people thought they were getting ready to actually form something similar to NOD, then they will be straight.
As far as a similar group to the NOD, lets be real, that ain't happening. WWE is honestly saving the fans from themselves. We saw what happen with Muhammed Hassan and honestly what he was saying was true. The Real American's were getting cheered for their xenophopia. I could honestly see some real problems with all the police issues going on and the last thing they want is being on CNN cause a story line/ crowd reaction went to far. Plus looking at their twitter when all that went down with Titus, them dudes don't even seem built like that. Just have them be 3 guys who know they got skill and talent and were initially trying to do it for the fans and it didn't work.

With Jey's injury, The Usos are on autopilot/Total Divas mode right now. They're gonna be beating on the bottom of the barrel teams every once in a while, but will be out of the title picture for the foreseeable future.
I'm not saying the New Day is more over than them, but they have more going on right now.
I've simply been saying that by either plan or happenstance, ND have been bumped up to tag champ contenders, AND they have a semblance of a storyline going right now.
C'mon with the "how are you a mod" talk. We all have different opinions. I think the AJ thread folks were weirdos, pathetic for wasting time on a woman who didn't even know they existed...but I didn't censor or attack them, they have their right to their opinion.

There is nothing wrong with you opinion and hope.
But you are flat out wrong on many things, for example, if they turn the New Day to Heels, they are not going to run a Heel vs Heel long term Tag Team Championship program, as Tyson/Cesaro are the champs. They have not been bumped up to Tag Title contenders, it sounds like they are going to thrown into nothing matches against Titus/Darren.
Lucha Dragons are going to challenege Tyson/Cesaro. If anything, they have been bumped down on the tag list with Lucha Dragons being moved up and Ttitus/Darren reuniting.

I simply perceive things differently: the WM31 match elevated them to the tag title mix, and their loss against LD was an unofficial #1 contender matchup. They were made to look legit so LD could get the rub.
Now they can have the top non-title feud with PTP, who they will go over...because c'mon, they resurrected Darren Young, and saved Titus from Slater Gator...but the Prime Time Players aren't getting THAT much of a push.
The Lucha Dragons will get a quick title run. Then they'll be the kids act that the WWE wanted Los Matadores to be. They'll go back and forth with Cesaro and Kidd, prevail, then lose to New Day.
