After digging into what happened in Detroit.

Piss on this move. He better not be on a longer than a 2+1 deal

People are acting like he's Byron Scott status based off of ~3 years in Detroit and I don't get it. His best player during that entire tenure was Reggie fukking Jackson, and his "supporting cast" was the likes of Andre Drummond, Steve Blake, and Stanley Johnson. Poppovich and Phil Jackson themselves wouldn't sniff the second round with that pile of garbage, I don't care how "weak" the East is.

Now he was in that dual GM/coach role, so is he himself totally blameless in assembling that roster? Of course not. But if you actually did dig into Detroit's history from 2012 onwards, you should have found out that

. Detroit wasted their top 10 first rounder the year before he arrived on KC fukkin P over Giannis
.
Had already thrown away their first rounder for the first year he was there in 2014 in a trade for Cory Maggette all the way back in in 2012 (who retired after playing only 18 games and averaging 5 points for one lone season there :laff:)

So right from the start he was set up for mediocrity if not straight up failure with a core of Reggie Jackson and sophmore Andre Drummond to "build around". Now did he do himself any favors with the moves he made once he was finally there? Nope... but there's basically only one example of anyone ever actually succeeding in the dual GM/Head coach role (at least in US sports). And that's one guy is the literal GOAT coach in North American professional sports history, Bill Belichick. SVG isn't doing that again, and never wanted the GM role again for his next job. That part of operations is solely Griff and Langdon now. Purely as a head coach, these are the facts:

Guy is far and away the best and most qualified guy we've ever had in the position. Is that a guarantee he's going to be perennial coach of the year for us and lead us to some future dynasty? Almost certainly not... but there's even less of a guarantee it'd be any better or different with some no-name first time assistant. Because for every Erik Spoelstra and Nick Nurse (who hasn't proven shyt without a Kawhi level superstar carrying him) where going that route pans out... there's 5 Jim Boylens where it doesn't. Who available on the market NOW is more qualified, has a more winning record, and fits what this roster needs better than him if you're so upset about SVG? :patrice:

Vogel had a bad time in Orlando too..Stan is a good coach and was ahead of his time with the modern offense. Out of all the options for Pelicans, he was the best. Detroit was a mess because he was a GM too, Doc Rivers struggled with it too. He will be better here. Plus hearing him a few months back on how he thinks the Pelicans offense should be ran, I am very happy with the decision:mjgrin:

Hideous :hhh:

They'd be better off playing in wifebeaters instead of these knockoff Eastern European jerseys.

I don't know why the marketing team/jersey designers always big up the idea of using colors of the New Orleans flag. Nobody cares about the flag.
