The Phil era strategy pretty much is you don't need our consoles to play the games, never understood that strategy, they made their console the least important aspect of their brand. We will see how far gamepass carries them because that is what their brand is about now

consoles are generally sold at a loss at launch - breakeven after some months is seen as success. Cerny got goat status at Sony because he managed to design and engineer the last couple shyts in a manner that allowed them to become profitable not too long after launch whilst not being completely pieces of shyt in relative tech terms. You have a poor understanding of what a monopoly is breh, at least in this context. Even if MS stopped making Xboxes next week (they won't - and the announcement will likely be tame and purposely vague to allow them latitude). PlayStation still wouldn't have a monopoly. As a matter of fact:

The crux of your argument being "encouraging competition" is even funnier because market share inequality is a direct byproduct of competition - and it's why Xbox finds itself where it currently is. It is the nature of competition.
