It’s very bittersweet breh. Copycat TV shows, endless commercials, mass gentrification with wealth and connections being your only ticket to having a place within the city, there’s this huge push to neoliberal free market capitalism where right now all that is coveted is consumerism. Nothing is sacred here except foreign currency. Growth and development is important, but not in this lopsided kinda way.

Also, they’re definitely going over look over substance. By that I mean they’re doing a total face lift of the city while the actual infrastructure that everyday people use is dilapidated as fukk. Unreliable water/sewage, rolling blackouts every single day, but if you go outside to one of the newly manicured locations like Bole or my beloved Piassa where my family is from there’s palm trees lit up like Christmas trees and synchronized water fountains while, again, the majority of citizens don’t have a reliable source for either resource.

It’s like I came to a more impoverished and more cold hearted version of DC/NYC. Even still, there’s a charm and love that I still feel here that makes me want to stay this shyt is like a toxic relationship. They very obviously want to move everyone out that doesn’t have upward mobility and they do that shyt promptly cuz if you fight back you gonna get disappeared.

Our African brothers and sisters need the input and knowledge of our brothers and sisters in the diaspora. They are full of promise but don’t have the requisite knowledge to defend themselves against the self hatred that Europe/America brings to Black folks. The people in the diaspora know the dangers of white supremacy, a lot of Africans, especially Ethiopians, haven’t fully gotten the picture yet and that’s because they are being miseducated in their Western style schools.

Thank Christian Missionaries for a huge part of the historical and continuous modern day indoctrination of Africans on the continent.

Thank Christian Missionaries for a huge part of the historical and continuous modern day indoctrination of Africans on the continent.

All non-African ethnic group preach Abrahamic Religious All Lives Matterism as it harms African all throughout the Diaspora longterm, since they are ALL inherently anti-African.

Even still, Africans are capable of having a healthy relationship with Abrahamic faiths because in the case of some of them they’ve known of these faiths for centuries. The biggest problem is importing the same education systems that Carter G Woodson fought against.

Africans need to be at the center of their worldview instead of orbiting the West so much. The diaspora would be such a huge help but the infrastructure needs to at least be satisfactory. Also, govts need a right of return for African descendants to both entice and make the transition smooth.
