I dont see Howie trading away an important weapon for Carson to have without bringing in another weapon for this season. Anything that would take away from Carson being the best he can be is probably gonna be a no-go from Doug and Howie this season even if its for a talent like Clowney.

If JJAW, Gawdert and Sanders ball out and establish themselves as high level threats this season though...
:francis:
Alshon might have to take that quick Vinny Curry vacation down south.

I have not been on the Eagles have to trade for Clowney train BUT...reports are...The Dolphins are trying their best to trade for Clowney BUT he doesnt want to go to Miami. He only wants to go to 2 teams

Seattle AND......................................Philly :whoo: He is now changing my mind. Apparently, Houston wants a WR or an Offensive Lineman :leon:

I know we love em...but ...if I can trade Nelly and a 3rd for Clowney...sorry Nellz

Yeah, sounds like Miami has the best deal on the table but Clowney doesn't want to sign the tender to go there. No one can extend him until next offseason so I wouldn't want to spend a rental year there either, Seattle or Philly are both more appealing situations to beef up your value heading into free agency.

I wonder what kind of draft capital would be needed. I am not giving up a first or a second. Houston has no leverage. Imagine Philly nabbs Dillard from them snd may get Clowney for cheap

Add Houston to the list of cities that hate Philly

I dunno. Trading for Clowney feels incongruent with everything the Eagles have done at the DE position this offseason.

They traded Michael Bennett, their most productive edge rusher in 2018, to the Patriots for a 2020 5th Round pick.
They let Chris Long, another productive edge rusher, retire even though all they had to do was guarantee him more snaps and he would have stayed.
They saw potential replacements like Ziggy Ansah and Justin Houston go on the FA market; Frank Clark was available for trade. No indication they were ever in the running for any of these guys.
They passed up on chances to draft a young DE in a studded class until the 4th Round.

Just about everything Philadelphia has done indicates that they’re pretty satisfied with their defensive line as it currently is, and wouldn't be interested in getting Clowney.

Houston can just let him walk after the season and get a comp 3rd in the 2021 draft, so I'm assuming the bidding starts at a 2020 3rd + player. Doubt anyone reaches a 1st.

I think that was the case all offseason, but we're about to reach labor day and Clowney's still out there with no real trade value due to the uncertainty of re-signing him after this season.

That's why Howie is being tempted, his team is trying to make a Super Bowl push and a premier edge defender is just dangling out there for grabs. His mindset is "shiiiit, if no one else is gonna get it done then I will :mjlol:"

Man I'm torn

I do but I don't want to get clowney.

I just read about that we have a good chunk of the team as free agents and adding clowney and we cant negotiate a new deal would be  for me.

But imagine a lineup of
Clowney/Cox/Jackson/Graham

With back ups like Timmy,Barnett and Vinny Curry:banderas:

I've said it before, never doubt howie in trades and Cap management

But Big V/Nelly and a 3rd should be good for Texans to accept

But Seattle got an extra 2nd rounder.

If Clowney wants to play here, I say pull the trigger Howie. :manny:

This is a perfect situation, Texans have no leverage, The borderline elite player wants to be here and we got spare pieces to pull it off.

It doesn't really hurt us if it's a 3rd rounder or later and Big V or Nelly.

The situation as it stands: JD wants to play for the Texans, and if not then he wants to go to a contender. That's is known. What's not reported is that he talked to SEA but they won't spend the capital, and he talked to eagles but they didn't offer more than a swing tackle (rugby guy). Now he's scared to sign his tender because BOB will trade him away to MIA/WAS where he refuses to play/resign. This all would be avoided if BOB would just say that he wants to keep JD or sign him next year, but he's always had it out for him and this situation put him over the edge. Gaine wanted to sign him in offseason but BOB got in the way.

That's from someone reliable on the Texans reddit who's dropped inside info before and been correct. :dead: @ "rugby guy", sounds like Howie told them all he's offering is Mailata :mjlol:
