What's everyone draft grade?

I'm going with a B
A B/B+ seems about right.

Howie came into the draft with a team already set to compete in 2019, so this draft was all about taking the best players available just based on how things went to help set the team up for long-term success.

The Eagles came away with a successor to Jason Peters who was the best LT prospect in football and two solid weapons for Carson who should be able to grow with him in the future. It sucks that they didn’t have more picks, but if Dillard, Sanders, and Arcega-Whiteside all live up to their potential, we’ll be looking back at 2019 as one of the best drafts in years.

FWIW, I wrote out my individual thoughts on each pick. The post was pretty long so I put them in spoiler tags:
Andre Dillard, OT, 1st Round – already laid out why this was a great pick in another long-ass post a couple pages ago. TL;DR version is that he’s either the best or second-best Tackle prospect in the draft, he’s the best pass protector, and easily the best LT. There’s a video where OL coach Jeff Stoutland lays out just what Dillard does so well, and it’s really worth watching. He also fills a long-term need in looking for Jason Peters’ successor. That he fell to #22 thanks to an early run on DT and Edge Rushers was a gift from the football gods.

Miles Sanders, RB, 2nd Round – about the last thing I expected Howie to do was take a RB at #53. And as far as RB prospects went, I preferred Darrell Henderson and maybe even David Montgomery. But Sanders isn’t a bad choice, and it looks like the Eagles FO were really high on him. They’d have to be for Howie to pass over a Safety or DE for an RB. He has to work on his ball security and his pass protection, but he runs well, is elusive, and can catch. He compliments Jordan Howard well. At best, the Eagles have a long-term lead RB. At worst, he should fit well in an RBBC.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, 2nd Round – didn’t know anything about him coming in and I expected the Eagles to look for an Agholor replacement, like Campbell or Isabella, instead of a potential Alshon one. But Arcega-Whiteside has drawn a lot of hype as far as WRs go. He’s a downfield threat, has good hands, is a good route-runner, and another redzone threat to put alongside Alshon, Ertz, and Goedert. WR is another long-term need for the Eagles and, while Alshon, Agholor, and DJax are fine in the short-term, they needed to get younger there. Excellent decision. And Carson gets more weapons.

Shareef Miller, DE, 4th Round – another prospect I know nothing about, so not much for me to say here. Even without taking a prospect in a top DT/DE class, the Eagles are set up pretty well on the D-Line with Cox, Jernigan, Jackson, Graham, and Barnett. They did need a Chris Long replacement, though, so hopefully Miller develops into a solid rotational player.

Clayton Thorton, QB, 6th Round – at this point most picks are either depth signings or developmental prospects, so whatever. The Eagles value QB highly and Nate Sudfeld is a FA in 2020, so you need a guy who can be a potential #2 QB behind Carson. It makes sense.

Imagine if they drafted a QB with one of those seconds :pachaha:. I don’t know shyt about Thorson and I’m not willing to watch northwestern film, but hopefully he turns into something. I’d give the draft a B+. Picked up Peters’ replacement, got a young, high ceiling back, Possession receiver and a developmental DL /QB. This offense is something on paper tho :sas1:. Mailata, Big V, Dillard, Pryor are some good depth pieces on the line. Wish we coulda picked up a C/G tbh with kelces injuries/retirement pending. hopefully groh don’t have trouble integrating all the new guys :upsetfavre:

Don't understand the free reps but happy to give them.
Im bigger on the draft then many. Addressing future needs.
Sudfeld is probably out after this season so backup QB if Howie liked him is smart.
Hear only positive things about JJ. Ertz, Alshon, Dallas and JJ will be impossible to stop in the redzone.

I graded the draft a B

I like the first 3 picks although I didnt like giving up 2 draft picks in R1.
I am not big on Shareef Miller - he should have stayed in school. I hate the QB pick- that guy sucks- no way he was getting drafted by anyone you could have signed that bum as UDFA. Plus I prefer the Rypien kid anyway

Howie SZN never ends, ya'll. :wow:

Zach Brown is more of a run-stopping LB than a coverage guy, which is what Schwartz prefers. But considering that NYG and Dallas are run-first teams, and we play Zeke Elliot, Saquon Barkley, and now Derrius Guice and Bryce Love, twice a season, Eagles could use a guy who's good against the run. FWIW, Brown was PFF's 3rd best LB last season and Howie got him for cheap. Damn good pickup.

P.S. - sorry I missed free rep day. :mjcry: Didn't even know that was a thing here. But thanks for all the points.
