3D movies are more expensive so everybody was paying an extra couple bucks per movie in the case of Avengers.

Also, the killing definitly killed a lot of Batman's momentum.

But I think Batman still has a chance because based on everybody I've talked to, pretty much everybody is going to see it multiple times.

You can say all that but at the end of the day The Dark Knight Rises had more Multiple Midnight shows running all night long July 20th. With the Avengers they didn't have that. So if the show was sold out you was just out of luck and had to see the movie another day. Imagine if the Avengers was running all night long like TDKR i am sure it would of broke some more records.

Well you can say Heath Ledgers death raised The Dark Knight's momentum since Batman Begins was a good film that did modest box office rewards but no where near the level what The Dark Knight did. I know people that didn't even see Batman Begins but still saw The Dark Knight.

TYRONE GA!
Avengers was more entertaining and a true comic come to life.

TDKR was a damn good movie, just like its predecessor. I now understand the original Star Wars trilogy comparison to Nolan's trilogy. I think it's fair.

Even though both movies are based on comics, they are both different in their approach.

Like I said with the TDK, TDKR was a damn good movie period. Avengers was a great comic book movie come to life and better than TKDR in that perspective.

I honestly can't choose personally, but artistically/cinematically/etc, TDKR was better.

so you have that "it was shown on more screens excuse prepared, huh"?

TDKR still became the highest ever to debut in 2d format and the 3rd highest debut ever...and this was IN SPITE of the shooting, to which analysis saw that it took down between 30-35% of the audience attendance...

think about that and the potential of whut could of been... the chances of it beating the avengers were real...

Avengers is a pure comic book movie. Bright and pretty to look at. TDKR is an epic film and is very serious/dark. I prefer the latter but Avengers was great for what it needed to be. But The Dark Knight trilogy is a profoundly epic and deep series of films. I'm gonna go see this again tomorrow alone during a matinee.

I am just bringing forth the facts about both films. I have nothing against either movie. I saw them both and enjoyed them both in what they brought to the table. Like people already said they are 2 different types of movies. With the only thing in common is that they are comic book adaptations.

I loved Avengers dearly, but DKR was on a completely different level.

Avengers is more of a simple man's movie. Lots of bright lights, action, simple man's plot, colorful, awesome superheros, witty and comic-like lines.

The Dark Knight is is more of a complex man's movie. Deep plot starring a character that had 3 movies to fully develop, brilliant script, fight scenes were further in between but epic, gritty and felt more like something was on the line, some of the greatest quotes in movie history.....

I'll remember some of the shyt Bane and Batman said in TDKR for the rest of my life. I don't feel the same about Avengers....all I remember is "Puny god..." and "We have a HULK!"

Also TDKR was far more high stakes....people LEGITIMATELY felt Batman could die. More was on the line. Despite Avengers being more of a "fight for the planet" type of situation, there was never a time where you said "Jeez....Thor might not make it."

At the end of the day, I give Avengers a A- and TDKR a A+...for I am a complex man and TDKR suits my taste more. I predicted nikkas whose attention spans and simpleton ways of thinking and observing entertainment wouldn't appreciate TDKR's 2 hour and 45 minute brilliance and would make a crazy topic like this though.
