Ohtani isn’t close to being the best pitcher in the AL this season.

And he’s not close to being the best hitter in the AL this season.

And I’m not going to penalize the rest of the league because they don’t play on both the mound and the plate.

If Ohtani was the best pitcher in the league I’d vote for him for Cy Young.

If he was the best hitters I’d vote for him for MVP.

I’m not going to take his above average hitting, add it up with his above average pitching and use that to deny Judge or Alvarez or McClanahan or Cease or Gausman or Verlander an award …each of whom are better than Ohtani this year on their given side of the plate.

MVP isnt exclusive to position players, so I dont understand this logic

Terrible logic. He's been a top five pitcher AND hitter in the American League. Nobody can be more valuable than that.

Judge is going to win the award but by definition, Ohtani should win it every year he performs even close to this level. Nobody can be more valuable than him because he's literally the only one capable of doing what he's doing.
