so we havent seen a 60 HR season since the steroid era (2001 when Bonds/Sosa both did it), and only 8 times in MLB history

can Vlad do it? its been over 20 years. if anyone can, probably him

if you take away 1998-2001, its only happened twice (Maris/Ruth of course)

Add McGwire to that as well.

Anyway, barring injury these guys have the power to do it (probably missed a couple):

Judge
Ohtani (probably hard being a SP as well)
Stanton
Vlad
Harper
Alonso
Tatis

The problem is these guys get pitched around enough or strike out too much.

Stop it. Let him have another moment of glory. An extra 25-30 pitches in one April start isn't gonna make or break his season.

Under no circumstances do you take out Kershaw in that scenario. A perfect game is the RAREST of rare occurrences.

however, johan pitched a no ho-hitter after coming back from injury and threw 150 pitches to get it. He was never the same. He was DONE.

I thought Ryan Howard was going to do it. He got close one year, he hit 58.

Depending on circumstance, it could be easier. I think more people would understand if they took him out in the 9th if his pitching count is getting in the "high terrority" or he's throwing high level stress pitches. My overall point is that baseball has gotten so "smart" people can't even comprehend why baseball fans would be upset by this. That's when there's disconnect. Baseball, like all sports, needs a balance between being "smart and entertaining", because this is an entertainment business first and foremost over anything else. Not even allowing him to attempt to get through it is going to piss people off, because that's a potential historic moment that everyone who loves the sport would have loved to see.

Not saying let him get the perfect game no matter what. There's an obligation to do right by your players, to try to win and to entertain the public. It seems like the last part is what people in baseball care the least about now.

I agree. I think a lot of "advances"in the game are negatives for the fan experience. This is just so minor in comparison, and with obvious reasoning.
