Yeah he should have but I feel sark plays favorites and wouldn’t have let him pull worthy even if he wanted to. And who regressed outside of worthy? We had to play extra tight ends and linemen just to get the run game going and to stop Ewers from getting killed. Also let’s not act like Worthy didn’t have plenty of drops last year. QB is also an important piece of the passing game and Ewers accuracy and ball placement left a lot to be desired.
Ultimately position coaches greatest skill is recruiting great players. None of them are turning water to wine.
It wasn't about pulling Worthy from the game. He gave Worthy preferential treatment in general. Ewers left a lot to be desired but Worthy obviously has issues tracking deep balls and he is a body catcher. Hardly ever catches with his hands. Tennis ball drill is an easy way to help cure that.
And I completely disagree with your position coach statement. Flood, Davis, Choate, Gideon all developed their rooms, and I can't point to numerous programs around the country where their coaches are just recruiters. You have to recruit and develop and not just recruit
