A back up QB that could execute his offense. Ours can’t. Card missed throws and open players all game.
Their backup had 5 ints the previous two games. He couldn't execute their offense. All the IT guys were saying he was an awkward fit for Tech's offense and that he was just holding it down until Morton gets more familiar w/ the offense. He looked like Cam Newton today. What is our excuse?

That was probably the second least talented team we'll play all season behind ULM. We should have been able to beat them w/ Charles Wright let alone a Junior QB. I don't care how flawed he is. TBH, I've seen Card a lot worse than he was today.

The thing is the score was 31-17 and you went soft zone after that with no pressure. I'm screaming at the TV to pressure him. 3rd and 26 and you let them convert it with bad defending and offsides. They got conservative and it came back to bite them. This is on the coaching specifically the DC. There is zero reason to play that way. This is the 5th time since Sark got to Texas that this happened. I do somewhat agree with Numpsay though. Card was missing receivers today but Texas problems today has been the problems since 2009. Bad defense and bad oline play.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make here. Did you watch the game? I don't care what he did in previous weeks. Their QB executed their game plan and Tech played balls to the wall. Our QB did not. We were their SB especially with all the controversy regarding if we'll continue playing them once we move to the SEC.

If you want to fault the defense then come out and say that, I for one don't think PK's soft ass defense works in this league. But Card was fukking awful today, what goes unnoticed a lot of the time is the throws he should make that he doesn"t because he can't go through his progressions. This team will be night and day once Ewers comes back.

"We don't lose this game with Ewers" is some loser shyt to say.

I see a lot of Texas fans going back n forth with Tech fans making the same excuse "Bbbbbuttt if we had Ewers". Tech fans are rightfully clowning them b/c they also played with a backup QB and UT should be above needing a single player to beat one of the least talented Tech teams in years.

As for Card, he is far down the list for me why we lost. The defense was horrendous, our coach went into a shell after halftime, and our oline fell apart.

Get a turnover, get a sack, stop a 3rd and a mile and nobody is fretting about Card's inability to read a defense and process plays (things we already knew going into the game).

Not even sure why you brought up us being their Super Bowl. Are we really surprised by that in the year 2022? This is a given lol.

I don’t think some of you realize how bad Card is, obviously you don’t. The offense stalled in the second half because Tech loaded up against the run and Card couldn’t make his reads. If you think Card is far down the list of reasons we lost then I’m going to have you assume you didn’t understand what you were watching today. And yes Tech also played with their back up QB but their back up was better than ours today.

But the defense didn’t do us any favors either as they couldn’t get off the field. The scheme we are running just doesn’t work and Sark needs to rid himself of PK sooner than later.

I'm not even a Card fan like that. He sucks. He is a glorified practice player. If we never recruit another LT player I'll be ecstatic. I get it.

But if you got me defending him b/c 1.) I know if I asked you prior to the game who had the QB advantage, you would say us, and 2.) if you compare how he played today versus the rest of his career, this was actually the best he's played on the road. Yes, he missed open receivers and he was late on a few throws, but he didn't have the deer in the headlights look that he had vs Arkansas/Iowa State last year. He used his legs, and he hit on a few down field balls (Whittington needs to catch). He stepped up in the pocket and made a few nice throws. Worthy also dropped a surefire TD. So yeah, I thought his performance today was good enough to win. 95% of why we lost is on the defense.

Dline - no pressure, no sacks
Secondary - no awareness, no picks
Entire defense - poor tackling
DC - soft coverage, passive 3rd/4th down scheme

Then on offense, I would blame poor Guard/Center play in the 2nd half before I blame Card. That had nothing to do with stacked boxes. Interior was just losing one-on-one matchups, once Tech started turning up the intensity.

We've got serious issues on defense. I've been watching the videos from the IT guys the last few weeks talking about how there's a culture change on the defense. I never bought into it. There is still a severe lack of talent in the Front 7 and the DC is clueless.

Ewers will be back soon. QB play will most likely improve. And we will still continue to lose b/c the competition will improve (Baylor are no joke).
