Sark is on the clock. We shouldn't have lost. If Ewers suits up next week, we better win.

Our fanbase is weird. Like you said, Ewers hasn’t even played two full games yet so many Texas fans are making excuses about him not playing yesterday. It seems every few years we get a very high profile recruit that half the fanbase latches on to and burdens him with being the “savior” of the program. That’s a big difference between us and other big time programs like Alabama & Georgia. When big time recruits choose those schools, they’re expected to fit in and just continue the tradition. Culture sucks here.
C'mon with this BS man. Anybody with two eyes can see Ewers is far more naturally talented than Card is. Kid has an NFL arm. And no one on this site has called him any kind of savior. But the point is we have a better chance of winning with him than Card.

:mjgrin:dtownreppin214 gotta be Bruh Man on SurlyHorns. I can tell by how he panics about Aggy dropping under the table bags at the last minute to get 5-star recruits.

Anyways, unlike most UT fans & media, I hope UT & OU don't get into the SEC until 2025, giving UT more time to upgrade their roster.

Won't be able to upgrade the roster if we don't win regardless of which conference we are in.

PK is still the defensive coordinator unfortunately.
:francis: @Numpsay @dtownreppin214 The biggest issue with the defense is the same issue we knew going into season...

UT doesn't have a disruptive enough EDGE player that can create negative plays in the backfield. Imagine if this defense had Joesph Ossai or Jackson Jeffcoat starting at Buck over Ogufu.

Sark & defensive staff gotta get the blame for putting all their eggs in Mathis & not being more aggressive in the portal. I never understood why UT put their eggs all in 1 basket in Mathis, when at 1-point they were willing to take both Mathis & Drew Sanders as EDGE transfers. Once Sanders committed to Arky, they should've moved on to recruiting the next EDGE transfer portal guy available instead of settling for just taking Mathis.

Passing on the twin EDGE brothers from UNT that ended up transferring to UCLA, Gabriel Murphy and Grayson Murphy, was always a head scratcher to me.

Drew wanted to play off ball LB. Mathis didn't like our scheme and he hasn't even been very good for NE anyway. I don't know much about the twins from UNT but the biggest miss was Verse who I think they did recruit. Regardless of edge talent I'm pretty sure we have pressured the QB plenty, just haven't finished, which has become the biggest problem.

1. The reason I didn't mention Jared Verse is because he's an OOS player that never OV to or seriously considered UT. The other portal edge guys I mentioned were from in-state. But yeah, UT definitely should've offered Verse WAY EARLIER.

2. In hindsight, I wish the UT coaches would've just said whatever Drew Sanders wanted to hear about playing LB during his UT OV to get him to commit to UT. Than they could've moved him to EDGE during fall camp.

3. Here are the twin Murphy Brothers' 2021 UNT stats:

Would've been nice if UT had aggressively recruited these 2 in-state EDGE brothers who each had 12.5+ TFLs last season, don't you think? Both the Murphy Bros are listed at 6-3 260lb on UCLA's depth chart. They'd probably be starting at UT.

4. Yes, UT is getting pressure. But it seems like they often gotta bring 5 to get pressure. If UT had more disruptive players up front that created negative plays, it would've made it much harder for UTSA & TTU to try and get away with dinking & dunking the whole game.

Of course Tech is back to looking like ass against Kansas state. If we lose today PK gotta be outta there. Promote Gary P to DC and be done with it

Nah, I don’t blame P.K. for the loss. The difference in the UT-TTU game is that TTU went 6-8 on 4th downs & that TTU recovered all 3 fumbles in the game. If TTU punted like a normal team on some of those 4th downs, UT wins the game by double digits.

It's still on the defense to stop those 4th down plays. It also didn't help that PK continued to play soft on 3rd down knowing they were going to go for it on 4th down. He also should have kept bringing pressure against the Tech QB and didn't.

@satam55 The upcoming OU game is the one game I wished we had a dual threat QB as that has been OU's kryptonite this year. Card in Herman's offense would beat this OU team as bad as TCU did. Unfortunately we don't run the QB, but their secondary is so bad it shouldn't really matter

Yeah seeing how bad OU's defense has played against dual-threat QBs the last couple weeks, I was wondering if UT would be better off holding out Quinn for another week.
