Yeah he's a hot name. As a Tar Heel fan I'm a little surprised at how high his profile is. I get that Clemson is Clemson and that's a machine too big for us right now but we should be able to navigate the rest of our conference schedule and get in the conference championship game regularly now. Blew that this year but with Mitch having a year under his belt we have no excuses next year.

But I've made my peace with him bolting within 2 or 3 years. Some team that's serious about this football shyt is gonna cut a check that our admins/boosters won't have the vision to see why they need to match it:yeshrug:

Fedora has deep Texas high school connects. Herman has Texas high school connects. Chad Morris has deep Texas high school connects. Justin Fuente has Texas connects. If these coaches have potential, that is coveted by people that hire and fire at Texas because we got absolutely destroyed at this by Briles and a lot of people can't get over that. Many see these connections as similar to how the SEC vets coaches as having experience with the style of football and right attitude to deal with coaches in their region. Strong's way of going around the coaches that didn't like him for no reason is simply thought of as the wrong way by some. I think that's a distraction because these people want to be comfortable with the hire instead of going out and hiring the most qualified or coaches with actual skins on the wall. I also think its the way schools that schools do things when they can't get the guy they want. Its should be a backup after the big names turn down offers. History just repeating itself. for Texas

That texas job is a trap... Said it before and say it again... Way too much competition for recruiting in Texas college football.

Texas had a top 5 recruiting class this past year while no one else in the big 12 even had a top 20 class

They should eventually dominate that mediocre conference because they get the most talent by far

Anyone who gets the Texas job will be fired like Charlie anyways, it's just to difficult esp in the big 12 to be dominant consistently

When you have gimmicky offenses than can drop 40-50 on you every week it doesn't matter how much 5 star players you have. Texas always recruited well and what do they have to show for it?

OU since Stoops has arrived has won at least 10 games every year aside from a few and they get less talent then Texas

While I agree it's hard to go undefeated in that gimmick conference there's no reason Texas can't win near 10 games every year

University of Texas officials have decided to fire football coach Charlie Strong, however the official announcement may not come until Monday, a high-ranking university source told the American-Statesman.

The decision comes after Saturday’s shocking 24-21 overtime loss to Kansas, a team that had lost 19 straight Big 12 games.

“It will happen for sure. The question is when,” the source said.

Strong is 16-20 in three seasons with the Longhorns and may become the first coach to oversee three consecutive losing seasons since 1936-38. He currently has the lowest winning percentage of any coach in UT football history and is 5-10 against ranked opponents in three years.

Strong is scheduled to meet reporters at his weekly press conference at 11 a.m. Monday as Texas (5-6, 3-5 Big 12) prepares for the regular season finale against TCU.

Texas President Gregory L. Fenves could not be reached on Sunday and did not respond to text messages from the Statesman.

Asked when an official announcement could come, “Perhaps in the morning.” the source said. Strong has two years remaining on a guaranteed contract worth $10.7 million.

Two athletic department sources said the coaching staff was busy Sunday preparing for Friday’s game. “We are getting ready for TCU,” one source said.

Asked if Strong has been told, the high-ranking university source said, “He knows what it coming.”

Strong appeared to know the end was near after Saturday’s loss to Kansas. In a somber four-minute press conference, Strong’s voice almost cracked when he was asked what the loss means for his status. “No idea,” he said.

Strong’s wife, Vicki, was holding back tears in the cramped media room inside Memorial Stadium. Men’s athletic director Mike Perrin declined to speak to reporters afterward.

Several players, including defensive lineman Poona Ford and Charles Omenihu, were seen collapsing on the field. Some players were crying in the locker room afterward.

“What you do is go hug ’em and look ’em in the eye, tell ’em to keep battling,” offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert said during the post-game press conference.

UT officials are expected to target Houston coach Tom Herman as a possible replacement. According to Houston sources and those familiar with the coach’s thinking, Herman would have “strong interest” in the position.

Yea it's done brehs:mjcry:

Not sure if they'll allow him to coach TCU or not but I hope they do.

Really wish it would've worked out for Charlie here.

:mjcry:Did ya'll see at the end of the game when he went into the tunnel early, than came back onto the field later? I could tell he was crying in that tunnel because it looked like he had just wiped tears off his face.

Well everyone is getting nervous now because apparently Fenves doesn't give a shyt about what the BMD's want and loves Strong. IF this team can beat TCU Friday this will turn into an even bigger shyt show.

But I have it on good authority that Charlie has already been told he will be let go.

If they can't lock down Herman this week. And Texas beats TCU. My money is they retain him. They can't bring in a b level coach to replace Strong.

I think your theory is correct. Which surprises me b/c I thought they would have had Herman locked up by now. LSU job is really good too tho.

I understand it's over, he needs to be fired, he didn't get the job done, etc. I get that. But the way they have treated this man is DISGUSTING. Those reports didn't magically appear, they were leaked. And the admin didn't do a damn thing to combat them. They let Charlie walk out there totally blind and face those reports not knowing if they were true or not.

Charlie gets his money and gets to leave that racist shyt hole, which is a win for him. Hopefully he finds a better situation. It won't be a big program but he's already shown he can build something.

What happened at Coach Strong's presser today? I've been purposely avoiding Twitter.
