I just can't see him getting fired if he's 7-5. Because if Herman comes in and shyts the bed next year, UT will implode. Plus, I hear the President doesn't want to fire him. We should give him one more year as long as he's 7-5 at the end of this season.

Just wanna remind the causal fans (who usually only post in the gameday threads) how young this Texas team is:

https://goo.gl/2W6MTE
12 more FR/SO starts than any p5 team in the country and the crazy thing is people still want Strong to play more young guys. Blows my mind.

So average # of FR/SO starts per game:
Texas 12.1
Tech 9.9
UH 8.6
BU 7.6
A&M 6.7
TCU 4.3

https://goo.gl/R32ucF
# of FR/SO starts for teams I see mentioned as "young":
Ohio State 96
Washington 86
USC 75
Texas 121

Ohio State's #s are a bit skewed too because they start a bunch of RS SO. If it was just 1st/2nd yr guys, disparity would be even bigger.

"Rumors out of Gilmer(put 2+2 together fellas) is Strong is out regardless as to what happens the rest of the season. Even stated he may leave on his own accord."

I personally find that very hard to believe, but as you can imagine the source is as solid as it comes. But I think a lot of that changes if Houston gets embarrassed tonight, and if this teams wins the next 3 games.

Looks like Charlie is safe :whew: Just can't lose to Kansas.

Earl Campbell: 'If we get rid of coach Strong, who in the hell are we gonna get?' | Hookem.com

On Charlie Strong’s future per Texas president Gregory L. Fenves:

One notion that’s floating around the Texas administration is that President Gregory L. Fenves has already decided to give Charlie Strong another year for a variety of reasons, no matter if the Longhorns lost to TCU and their bowl opponent. A loss to Kansas would shatter that thinking, however. But one large reason to bring Strong back is there’s not a slam-dunk hire of a replacement, not even Tom Herman, who gets mixed reviews from some influential parties. Fenves is thought to want to give Strong at least one year with his recruits as upperclassmen and provide offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert with a second season. Not to be dismissed as factors are the solid support for Strong from players and their parents and the perception that Texas didn’t give its first African-American head coach sufficient time to build a program if it fires him.

I know the President is saying Strong can come back even if we lose to TCU. But the way Herman has his boys looking, Strong better win the next two games :francis:

Alright. Strong is gonna have to clean out his office. The BOOSTERS are going to force the President's hand after this game.

:mjcry::mjcry::mjcry: Herman better be what you guys say he is.

Part of me still believes if Strong beats TCU, it will be hard to fire him.

It would have been hard, if UH got ran through tonight like they were supposed to. But you just can't ignore this, he(Herman) will be the hottest coach on the market again. The BMDs, those that were on the fence, won't be anymore.
