Kai Locksley has been adamant about staying at quarterback since arriving on the Forty Acres last year.

But that doesn’t mean he’s completely shut the door on contributing to the team in other ways.

On Saturday, Texas head coach Charlie Strong told the media that Locksley has been getting some work in as a punt returner.

Texas pledge Lagaryonn Carson expressed his excitement over the announcement.

At this point I'm actually more concerned about the defense than the offense. ND's oline averages about 6'5 310 lbs. We have a bunch of smaller 6'0 guys like Poona, Nelson, Boyette that I'm worried about getting swallowed up by their oline. If they control the LOS, their QBs are going to have a field day.

On the other hand, regardless who starts at QB, how the hell are they going to stop Warren/Foreman in a fast-paced offense on a potentially hot Texas evening? I can say us getting 5-7 yds a clip on these dudes and wearing them down.

them boys couldn't even handle tOSU's tempo. Them boys were breathing hard on that first drive.. Texas is uptempo tho snapping the ball every 10-15 seconds :dame:

Last year as atrocious as our defense was, we put ND in 3rd and long situations but couldn't execute a simple cover 2 to safe our fukking lives :francis:. We also didn't even have Hill or Davis starting at corner.

Bonney AND Antwuan Davis

Yeah getting those two off the field will help a lot. Bonney will probably never play more than he did last year. Sheroid, Boyd, Hill, Davis will hold it down. I'm a little disappointed in the Kraken for not taking one of those safety spots yet tho. :francis:

Also time for Coach Bedford to step it up and earn his keep. This probably won't be a peak form Strong defense until we get Carson, Wilson, etc. next year but it should be good enough now to not have so many blown coverages and drives where we get blown off the ball.

i'm still worried about our o-line, these last minute injuries and struggle swoopes getting out there and struggle swooping for two or three quarters.

Don't think the DL can be any worse than it was. Much more size this year as well. 6'5" 310 is not a big OL.

I don't understand how Heard is moved to WR and yet Swoopes is still a QB. If we were making these kind of moves, I would have expected Swoopes to be a TE

the coaches didn't move heard, the decision was all him. kai is catching on, but swoopes being a senior, ain't letting the dream die.

I bet Swoopes can't catch, lol. Real talk, he's got the physical tools for the next level. He needs coaching consistency and patience. He seems like a bright dude, just not built for what is going on in college with the spread stuff. Doesn't mean he couldn't make a decent career as a travelling 3rd stringer or practice team QB. I would keep trying if I were him.

Heard is a GREAT athlete. Not just good. 6'3" 200. Might run a 4.3-4.4 type 40 at the combine. Great leaper. If he switches now, with what he has shown in camp, he has first round potential. He's already shown elite ability in the open field if there is space. I know a lot of us were rooting for him at QB, but if this move works out, it is a steal for UT and may make him millions. Very curious to see his ball skills. So far there have been 3 clips of him. 1 where he sky'd over a DB to haul in a pass. One where he takes a short pass to the flats and leaves a DB flat footed to the end zone after a great move and from the scrimmage yesterday where he catches a long TD from Buchele. Seriously, if he can get down the nuances, that dude is a serious weapon.
