They reporting Heard spent a lot of practice in the slot and looks good there. He would actually be a big slot receiver.

"...a recent Instagram post on the official Texas football account showed Heard wearing an orange jersey, rather than the usual black jersey worn by Texas quarterbacks.

That black jersey typically designates that a player — either because they are a quarterback, or because they are injured — is non-contact."

boyd seemed to fight off enough blocks to put himself in good spots to make a play on the ball carrier. he just needs to add mad pop to his game and dude is going to be problematic for a while to come.

mcneal has finessed himself an approved release request.

"Texas wide receiver DeAndre McNeal (Mesquite, Tex./Poteet) said he will transfer, as first-reported by 247Sports.

McNeal requested his release from Longhorns coach Charlie Strong Wednesday.

He received a release morning to speak with other programs. He's not allowed to transfer to any school in the Big 12, Notre Dame, UTEP or Cal.

McNeal was suspended earlier this for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

McNeal will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules if he stays on the Division 1 level. He would then have three years of eligibility to play starting next fall.

McNeal (6-3, 215), with a hand-timed 4.48-second 40-yard dash, remains in good standing academically for his next school.

Listed as a wide receiver, he played last fall for the Longhorns primarily on special teams. He can also play H-back or linebacker.

The four-star recruit was ranked as the nation’s No. 20 athlete and the No. 44 prospect in Texas in the 2015 class by 247SportsComposite.

Update: McNeal told the Austin American-Statesman that he is considering Texas A&M and UCLA, among others."
