Charlie still needs to sign JUCO QB Jerrod Evans regardless.

they won't go after a JUCO because they are worried about losing Buchelle(they think will start next year since he's going through spring practice). Going to be another Charlie mistake. I hope I'm wrong.

Buechule isn't going to start next year and we can't keep starting over with freshman QBs. They are going to have to coach Heard up. An OC that can come up with simple passing reads, and can get Heard to trust his arm will get the job done.

The Folks on IT are speculating that it was a misdirection from Higdon when he said that Strong won't sign a JUCO QB. Higdon is dodging JUCO QB questions. So it makes sense.

Why wouldn't Buechele start? What has Heard done after the first few starts? You start the best player. That's probably going to be Buechele unless the new staff are miracle workers or go after Evans. Yes, I said staff, because Strong just whiffed on Whaley and Jordan Elliot. If he can't recruit, he may be done. Especially if they feel Hermann would take USC. I'm a huge Strong supporter, but he has to be able to recruit his way out of this, and that is starting to look improbable as well.

It depends on the who the OC is & how much Heard progresses. The last couple games Heard has made plays in the intermediate passing game that I haven't seen him make all season long. Regardless UT should be going after a JUCO QB.

Notice that both of them still plan to make OVs to UT.

Elliot hurts. For whatever reason they just can't seem to get DL talent. Even when they sign with them, lol.

Damnit, everytime I see Stanford I wish it was Shaw. I know he said he wasn't leaving Stanford, but I love the way they play. If they really are going to look elsewhere, as exciting as Herman sounds, would love to see a tough coached Shaw team. I don't think he would make the OC mistakes, he recruits Texas well(has beaten us head to head on several needed recruits) and those dudes play hard for him. Dantoni is my other guy. Love watching Stanford and Michigan St play.

Unfortunately, Shaw is never leaving Stanford unless it's for the NFL. He won't come to Texas. It looks like he's probably gonna spurn the NFL again too. Can't blame him, he's a God at Stanford and has the most job security in the country.

He talked about it last time. Its his alma mater and his father went there. I would still ask. You never know how life has been for someone.

Because Buchele isn't going to be the best guy when he steps on campus. It's very rare a freshman QB can come in and take the reins of a team. Why UT fans continue to think the next freshman will be the next savior is beyond me. It hardly works that way for anyone. Our best bet will be to hope Heard takes that leap.

I'll reserve judgment on Charlie's class when they sign. I don't think the doors are closed on Elliot. And I've seen Whaley in person multiple times and haven't been impressed. He isn't a miss IMO.

I'm not some "freshman savior" dude. I just don't think we have much on campus that has played. Freshman QBs coming in and playing is not rare, especially when they participate in spring. He may or may not win the job or they may want to shirt him on principle, but coming in, Buechele is just far more polished than Heard as a passer. Ellinger after him will come in at a similar level of polish as well. Again, they may be shirted on principle. I hope Heard can make a huge leap as well, but that's hoping for just as much as hoping Buechele can start or even that a new OC could get some accuracy out of Swoopes or that Locksley simply takes over. Either way, there's a big leap that needs to be made at this point. Keep in mind, I'm just talking about being a competitive, middle of the pack Big 12 team, because they will go nowhere without a leap on the DL and some of the freshmen stepping up and taking over the safety spots. Hopefully the screwups, firings and hirings will help of some in this regard.

How many successful true Freshman QBs are out there? I can only think of Rosen and you really can't say Shane will be more polished than Heard until you see him in a college game. The speed of the game difference between HS and college is drastic. Then you also have to consider we have an OL that cannot pass block so putting a lesser athlete back there now may not be an option. And unless Shane bulks up I hope he gets a redshirt for his sake. QB battle should be Heard vs Locksley.

People keeping harping on the DL but the LBs are much more of the issue. They just aren't filling gaps or making tackles as they should. Not saying the DL has been great but if you call them out but not the LBs then I'm not sure you understand what you're watching and where the breakdown is.

Charlie needs 8-9 wins next year. He needs a QB to take a leap and to hire a competent OC.

I know thats his alma mater but Kingsbury might need to be looking for the exit. If he could take his offense to a Miami or USF :banderas:

Kingsbury runs the Air Raid offense. Almost all the teams in the Big 12 (plus Texas A&M and Cal) run that offense or some variation of it.

So you can take your pick of Big 12 offensive coordinators, if you want that offense.

The rumor on the Texas Messageboards is that Texas & Charlie Strong are going to hire 1 of TCU's co-offensive coordinators this upcoming offseason.

:ehh:
