That's pretty much where many are coming from. I've seen videos where some people in Mexico keep saying, "I'm a Latino" and another Mexican interviewing them says, "Latino is a culture, not a race. What is your race?" The people are dumbfounded until the interviewer says, "How about saying you're Native American?" Then the interviewed people are left speechless.
Some have never even considered the idea that they are Native Americans, despite the fact that they are. Some people have been brainwashed into thinking all Native Americans were wiped out, so it's completely impossible to identify as such (in this type of programmed mind).
