We all agree Earl Sweatshirt is the best young lyricist in Hip Hop right now, right?

What were your top 3 tracks from album I honestly loved everything except grownups and even then it wasn't nothing that was  status IDLS,IDGO get better and better with each listen shame Earl gets so much disrespect on here kid killed it with that album IMO

That 3 track succession :wow:

Grown Ups and Wool are really nice too. Overall, it's a very quality piece of work and is laced with gems throughout.

I think Earl needs to step away from the dark, minimalist beats and focus on expanding his sound a little. He's been in the studio with Metro so I'm real curious to hear how that sounds.

Been an Earl fan since 2010 and I agree. His music is just too depressing to ever get that recognition he deserves imo.

And not that Drake or Childish Gambino "waah you broke up with me, I'm still in love, gonna watch cartoons now" shyt, but fukking absolute despair, getting drunk near train tracks level depression.

That's what I like about his music though :to:

:russ: great way to put it.

How old is Joey? Because lyrically Joey is better. I would put him in Joey in the same bag though...also my nikka Mick Jenkins is NICE

i think a lot of people still givin him flack from the OF thing, not even really giving him a chance...

Let's be reality all of these kids who were associated with Odd Future turned out to be really good artists in their own rights. We made fun of them for being these weird, skateboarding outcasts, but they have all made waves on their own at this point. I think we forget when they first came out, most of these kids were between 15-18. Now that they have matured we now see how good they really were as artists, they were just raw.

As for Earl, he has grown the most as a rapper, I have seen in maybe 15 years. He went from basically cloning late 90's Em to finding his own voice and he is definitely part of this new wave of under 25 rappers who are essentially the leaders of the new school. In his age range, I think he is only behind Vince Staples and Joey Badass and even then I'm only talking about a small margin. I do think Earl is by far the best writer of the three and his flows are technically on par, even if he still needs to liven his delivery to match the lyrics at times.
