They kicked him out of the editing bay and basically shut him out of the most important process in moviemaking. The final product wasn’t his. So yeah they clearly weren’t happy and that relationship is probably unsalvageable at this point.

They wanted Gibson to direct and he passed. Then they got the guy who did the accountant but clearly if Gunn is willing to direct, he’s also gone.

Going to get this out of the way before this thread gets out of hand (it will) and becomes the normal film room cuss show (most do):

This was obvious from the minute marvel fired him. He was going to jump ship across town and THR reported a few weeks back that studios weren’t afraid of hiring him and wanted to hire him. Regardless of anyone’s personal feelings on it, the film community as a whole has seemingly had his back through this whole thing and truly believe he was the victim of right wingers vowing to “hurt the libs.” Only makes sense someone would make sure he’d fall on a pile of money in that case.

Second thing, since suicide squad was cut and edited to be a low rent guardians of the galaxy, it only makes sense to see if the guy you bit is interested in doing the real thing. The Wrap is reporting he’s got a new take so I wouldn’t be surprised to see everyone but Will, Viola, and Margot thrown to the bushes.

They’ll also face no real backlash from this on the PR front. A few people will protest and be mad about it but I guarantee you most will welcome this with open arms and be happy for the dude. Film Twitter is already happy so yeah that’s going to continue.

I don't get the love affair with this dude, to be honest. There was a ton of potential in Suicide Squad, but it was a trash movie, only barely outdone in trashness by Justice League. The main reason for that was the obvious pandering and sharking of the Guardians playbook. How does possibly enlisting the efforts of the creator of Guardians help right the ship? I have no confidence in his ability to design a unique vision for this franchise. If he just goes back to the Guardians well, the claims of it being a rip off will linger over the movie. This makes no sense to me

Keep building on the Solo Joints because they've been good so far with WW and MoS (Expect Aquaman to join this list along with Shazam).
