This is why I dont have respect for Kubrick because of his lack of ethics in working with people. Heard too many (confirmed) horror stories about the mental torture he puts his actors through, and that shyt was completely unnecessary...

You all realize to get the performances and effect Kubrick was trying to create with this film he had to drive the actors insane? He was intentionally overly critical and completely unsympathetic to shelley Duvall to make her get into a certain emotional space of vulnerability and hopelessness. It's like your basketball coach yelling at you and being a dikk. You can't be nice to people while trying to push them to their full abilities.
