just like Jesse Owens 10.3 at the 100 couldn't get him on the 2012 USA track team.......old school NBA nikkas couldn't make in the league today

athletes of today >>> athletes of the past

athletes of tomorrow >>> athletes of today

its just a FACT of life

There's some athletes that could play in any era though. I agree with you, but there's definitely some guys who could play in any time in their respective sports.

true but you can't discount the reality that the population is increasing and those who participate in sports

what this allow for is great genetic diversity and greater likelihood of freak athletes to exist......also there is the advantage that players of today have the fortune to learn all the moves/plays from players in the past.....the same advantage players in the future will have

Maybe. But it doesn't change the fact that the best of today are better than the best of yesterday. Just look at all the sports where the objective measure of greatness is the clock versus current contemporaries. The 100m is a perfect example. The time that could win the gold in the 90s can't even get you on the USA track team today whenever the top 4 guys are running 9.9 and under. Even taking a freak like Usain Bolt outta the conversation, the 4 or 5 dudes after him were running faster than everyone else in history.

I just don't get why people think the same ain't true for team sports where the competition isn't the clock but rather other people. Just look at vids from nikkas in the 50-70s and you'll see how garbage even the best from that era were.

If the All-NBA team from the 60 or 70s was transported to todays NBA, they wouldn't even be able to beat the Charlotte Bobcats.

But like Jplaya said, dudes today came up in a new era of medicine, training, workouts, etc. Two totally different playing fields, of course you got people running under 9.6's in the 100 meters, bigger, stronger and faster than the guys from 25 years ago

If Carl Lewis was coming up today instead of the 80's im pretty sure he would be able to compete with someone like Usain Bolt. Dudes today have been able to take advantage of things athletes before them couldnt even dream about being able to have

thats a pretty big if......great high school athletes end up falling off and never making it pro today......how can you reason that a great athlete from the 80s could be just as dominant today

plus from all the arguments I hear concerning old school b-ball players, nikkas act like Wilt Chamberlain could walk right out of those 60s videos and dominate today.....the argument never goes that if he had grown up as a child today and had the benefit of modern technology

I'm going simply with comparing nikkas at their peaks not creating new worlds where they are born at the same time. That has too many question marks and doesn't really prove that they would be better than todays athletes.

Ill say this, A guy like wilt would have no problem today, he wouldn't be as dominant but to say he wouldn't be at least a 25-12 guy is crazy.

The dudes who would really struggle from back then are the guards. Most were crappy shooters and many couldn't dribble with their left hands. Like most high school Players right now have better handles then all them nikkaz did in their primes. Member what the heat did to Jeremy Lin in the game in Miami?:mjpls:

Plus perimeter defense is way better then back then and dudes like Oscar Robertson wouldn't have the phsyical advantage over their peers at the wing today as they did in the 60's

2003 team deserves a mention

Shaq
Duncan
Garnett
Kobe
Tracy

I think is lineup could give that 88 one a run for its money. Hell they may even beat them. Cuz who Magic gonna guard? And what is Bird or Barkley gonna do with KG and Duncan?

FACT: PEDs of the present >>>>>>>>>>>>> PEDs of the past

You mean to tell me Jim Brown, growing up today taking all those supplements and other shyt athletes take now wouldn't be able to go buckwild?

Athletes have not naturally evolved within 50 years:heh:

It's the training, supplements, and drugs.:manny:

Track is a terrible example to measure athletes between eras...With the new spikes, Training/Medicine and most importantly how FAST these tracks are that are being built nowadays it would be impossible to measure.

In Hooping though there are players that can play in ANY era and those are usually players that have the most SKILL.
