How the fukk is this 3 pages and half you fukking retards including the OP still haven't read or are unable to comprehend what the article actually says :mjlol:

Meltzer said the OPPOSITE of the thread title.. that nWo WAS cool and made WCW seem uncool.
WCW was the most watched promotion in America for like two consecutive years. If it was uncool then why was it watched so much?

Every time Scott Hall did his survey and 75% of the crowd booed the "Dubya see dubya" it made the supposed babyfaces in the storyline seem lame as hell. Granted they didn't boo Goldberg/Sting/Lex individually, so in that respect I think Dave is overstating things a bit. But that whole nWo angle was just heat and heat and heat without a sufficient payoff for the "good guys" once they messed up the Hogan-Sting match.
I think we're getting close to what the real problem with WCW was, and that's who outside of those guys and DDP were they going to root for? WCW was filled with a bunch of workrate guys who were just bland.
But were they all more popular then NWO?
Well, when they attempted to overtake them we know what Nash and Hoegan tried
You don't have to be more popular, DDP was a star that the fans loved just as much as Sting. Meltzer as always exaggerates his arguments to get his points across. Not everyone in the nWo was cool which is why they had the B team theme. The cool ones were the Wolfpack, Hogan, and Steiner, and the rest were just bodies.

Isnt this the reason those guys who jumped to WWF and showed their potential as more than workrate showed though?
And like I said with DDP/Sting/Goldberg, there was certainly politics that cut them

WCW was the most watched promotion BECAUSE OF the NWO. Because the nWo were over & cool as fukk. Which is exactly what is written in the article you posted and is the opposite of what you comprehended and posted when making this thread.

Unpopular Opinion but nWo was amazing as a kid but now that I'm older, it's clear they took from hip hop culture, 2pac, and west coast "gang" culture and just shook up the redneck audience of WCW at the time.

Although not as many people watch nowadays, all the current black excellence and natural charisma is better between Bianca, New Day, Swerve, Keith Lee, etc

I just wanna say though:

you could make the argument DX and NWO were never THAT cool outside of wrestling like that:mjgrin:

to us they were, but like.....try explaining what they are or show a picture of them to a non wrestling fan then or now:

"Well its two white thirty year olds and they say suck it to their crotch and the other 2 white thirty year olds wear bandanas like Pac and say too sweat and a bunch of midwest and south folks eat it up and....hey where you going, stay Im trying to explain something":lolbron:

I dont think its any coincidence the two biggest booms of pro wrestling occured in eras for pop culture that have aged poorly in general (apart from the black excellence of those eras)
