  • Best Gotham in any live action Batman movie
  • Pattinson was actually a great Batman
  • Zoe looked good and less musty
  • Really wasn’t feeling Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne tho. Completely off to me
  • I wasn’t feeling Batman getting bodied by Reddit CACs
  • Movie was long AF and not in a good way
  • 6/7 out of 10
It was basically Liverpool (London for O2 arena) with a dash of Chicago sprinkled in.

The first two Nolan movies were Chicago but the third one was Pittsburgh

I loved it. I liked the direction they took with movie showing Batman in his 2nd year(when people complain about Pats Bruce I really can’t see how they don’t understand he hadn’t found balance at this stage of Batman)as the Batman. Patterson killed the role, the movie isn’t without its flaws even with that said its a really good foundation layer.

That one with Bane was such a let down. That and the Superman movie were the worst batman movies since they rebooted they franchise in 05

If the one with Bane was a let down, what the hell was this one:mjlol:?

Think yall dragging it,TDKR is arguably better than The Dark Knight for me.

Far as the Batman, its worst than Man Of Steel, worst than Wonder Woman, worst than Flash. Mind you I didnt love any of those movies. But at least they all had some memorable moments and scenes. Plus all the action was literally in the damn trailer:gucci:.

Fans of this movie try arguing everything away as its the first year. Fine, but can he be great at nothing in the movie? Batman who walks straight into gunfire like hes Superman:beli:? Why would he get better at fighting or stealth when bullets cant hurt him:mjlol:

Also why i gave it an 8 was the fact i wanted to see batman fight more... I know its supposed to be a detective year 1 story but his fighting style supposed to be crazy but he was getting hemmed up in the penguins club... :heh:
He was still basically in rookie mode. He hadn’t learned how to be efficient he was just going for broke lol

That movie came and went. You rarely hear anyone mention it and I was struggling to remember any details until I read through the thread.

They nailed the visuals and the tone but made huge missteps.

They're was a complete lack of distinction between Bruce and Batman. He might as well been in costume the whole movie.

Way too much going on and 15-20 minutes could easily be trimmed. Should have just focused on one villain. We didn't need Penguin and a Joker cameo.

I always feel like they need to streamline the costume so Batman can fight in it. Even in the Nolan movies the movement is too stiff and fights suck because of it.

For a detective movie the detective work wasn't compelling.

Riddler wasn't that memorable and his plan in the 3rd act felt out of place.

Batman looked weak at the end getting handled by a goon. Ending was anticlimactic.

7/10
That was intentional breh lol. He was ONLY Batman(he’s in year 2) he had not realized the importance of being Bruce and having that balance. Thats why he said what he said at the end.

Also for comparison "The Dark Knight" budget was $185 million back in 2008 and "The Batman" budget was $185 million in 2022. So this one doesn't have the huge set pieces of action, explosions, combat, etc. that Nolan's films had. So it's not really this huge blockbuster action movie that everyone is gonna love. This is dark, brooding, noir. I kind of liken it to Seven or True Detective. If you don't like murder mysteries and slow burns then I can understand how someone won't like this film. Don't get me wrong, I love the Nolan films for the big action scenes and great story, but this film is deff the more gritty of the two.

That was the point.

At the early stage of fighting crime, he didn’t give a shyt about anything except making criminals scared.

There’s a reason why his opening monologue sounds similar to Riddler’s journal, why we see the same POV when they’re looking into someone’s home with binoculars.

Alfred told him execs from Wayne Enterprises was at the crib and that he should take a shower, he went :what:

Alfred mentioned Selina being cute, he went :martin:

He shows up at the guy’s funeral and everyone is :ohhh::gucci::whoo::leon:because he hasn’t been seen out like that in a while

The mayor elect is asking him to get involved philanthropically and politically like his dad and all he’s thinking about is looking for clues.

It’s not until the end of the movie when he gives his monologue that he realizes that he needs to be the face of hope and that means Bruce is going to have to be that face to the public.

I think people complaining about Batman getting worked forget he's young in this one and has only been Batman for a couple of years. He's still finding himself as Batman hell he is still finding himself as Bruce Wayne as an adult and what he wants to be while still sorting out his emotional damage. Trying to be a force for good on two fronts.

interesting responses in here
for me, it was an 8/10 a good start for me and I liked the beginnings of Bruce Wayne being shown. my only gripe was it was another realistic take but I didn't really hold anything against that. I like Zoe as Catwoman
on to the next movie

It was better than most of the superhero movies that came out since the Marvel hype, certainly the best DCU movie, but it isn't better than Batman begins or Tim Burtons Batman.
I don't think they were trying to do better than batman begins, I think they wanted a standalone Batman franchise without Bale or Nolan.
