Its the most Batman Batman movie. Like if you're REALLY a fan of the character. This one passes the vibe check.

My main gripe was not enough violence on Batmans part, but the parts I do remember like grabbing a dudes Ar15 and whipping that shyt like a baseball bat at his face, and the 20+ hit combo on that clown in the subways grill :banderas: also when he rammed the Bat charger into Penguins car :wow:

Thats why Gotham goons are scared of Batman. He doesnt kill but he really needs to fight like an unhinged psycopath to sell the illusion. Hope he goes even harder in the sequel

I enjoyed it overall but my issue with it is that it once again took the Nolan “grounded” approach as opposed to leaving in on some of the more fantastical elements. We saw the gritty realistic version with the Dark Knight series. To me Batman TAS is the perfect template to build a movie series around. It has its gritty tones but also room for Killer croc, Clayface, Solomon Grundy etc. And not just “realistic” versions of them ala Bane but the more comic book/cartoon take.

Also for comparison "The Dark Knight" budget was $185 million back in 2008 and "The Batman" budget was $185 million in 2022. So this one doesn't have the huge set pieces of action, explosions, combat, etc. that Nolan's films had. So it's not really this huge blockbuster action movie that everyone is gonna love. This is dark, brooding, noir. I kind of liken it to Seven or True Detective. If you don't like murder mysteries and slow burns then I can understand how someone won't like this film. Don't get me wrong, I love the Nolan films for the big action scenes and great story, but this film is deff the more gritty of the two.

Exactly. The Nolan movies have amazing villain portrayals and monologues. But its was basically a 007 movie with Bruce Wayne in it as far as the action and pacing go. I fw this darker, grimey Batman. Anything goes here in this trilogy

The car chase with Penguin was great.

Also

Bruce almost getting murked by an incel with a shotgun had me rolling :deadrose:

Arguably the best modern car chase scene ever made. With the actual best scenes on film with a car all time.

Just finished watching this!

I didn’t know what to expect going in because I really liked the Batman trilogy Nolan directed but I think The Batman is really good. I’m not sure where I would rank alongside the other live action Batman movies because it’s been a while since I’ve watched all of them and I’ve to revisit them to really see how they compare but The Batman surprised me. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do.

It was compelling from star to finish and even though the movie was close to 3 hours long, I never got bored, I think the cast did a good job and the story was well told too.

I never expected Robert Pattinson to pull off being Batman but I was actually was impressed, he did good.

Solid cast

Zoe Kravitz looked amazing! :noah:

The movie ranks a 8 out of 10 IMO.

Really good movie and nice new approach at Batman.

The villain was dope, The rushed final act and repeating that song over and over annoyed me, but it was solid intro movie, using already popular songs in movies is already played out. And it ruined the serious tone of the movie for me felt like a cheap James Gunn knock off in that aspect.

Some of the positives was the focus on detective work, the corrupt backstory of Gotham and Batman not being a great fighter and of course the Villain was Heat rocks, but lets go back to original scores and let old music breathe :scusthov:its a cheap and greedy tactic by corrupt studios to bolster the music catalogs they are hoarding , off starving and dead artist. :jbhmm: Sort of like corrupt Cops and politicians using Wayne's foundation to fatten their pockets :ohhh:
