I wasn't really around back then when the arcade scene was really poppin, but how competitive was that shyt? was it on some friendly, pat-your-opponent-on-the-back type shyt or were fights breaking out in the arcade because of the butthurtedness?

considering how hostile online gaming frequently is, what was the face-to-face competition like?

I almost threw hands with this white kid who kept doing M.Bison's Psycho Crusher all the gotdamned time... and won :birdman:

The worse scenes as a kid was Chuck E. Cheese (Showbiz for OG nikkas) or Little Caesar's Family Fun Pizzeria. You got all these kids there gassed up cuz it's they birthday, walkin around like all the shyt's theirs. My homie and I almost stomped some nikkas out for talking wreckless on Cruisin' USA :hmm:

nikka the heyday of the arcades was fun yet ruthless at the same time. There was no room for no slackers or clowns, shyt got real competitive with nikkas and a pocket full of quarters. Arcades made novices grow into world champion competitors. At the end of the day long lasting memories and stories for everyone that were lucky to experience it.

shyt didn't get really bad until Street Fighter. Mad peeps got their feelings hurt by E. Honda............:myman:

If you got beat by someone playing Dhalsim, you couldn't show your face around our way for weeks.

It was still all good......until Mortal Kombat came through and crushed the buildings. Wasn't bad enough you got beat, but to end it with a Fatality usually meant someone was gonna get their ass beat for real.

Depended on the location... If it was the arcade at the mall(s) there was always security and G-Unit to settle any rowdiness...

Now the arcade around the way... I'm sure people still get slapped around there on occasion/steadily... Liquor and competitiveness just don't mix...

Gonna be a sad day when the last arcade shut's down...

The lines, the shyt talking definitely lead to some fights at certain locations. I actually miss that experience when it was two of you going straight up in front of a whole bunch of people waiting to get next and watching.

The original mortal kombat and SF 2 didn't help matters when everyone was talking big shyt, :ahh: good times.

Kids was on their :pacspit: stuff, "One, if I lose, I'm gonna beat that ass. Two, if I lose, I'm gonna beat that ass. :pachaha:"

Man, the arcades was the shyt back in the day. It was like going to the strip club. Instead of walking around with a bunch of singles, you was in there with a pocket full of tokens. Instead of tipping a dancer, your putting tokens into the gaming machine. Some of the arcades around my way had tournaments in Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken, and other fighting games. Man, the fighting games kept a crowd around them. You can tell when someone was getting they ass beat. They'd turn around like.:sadbron: or:sadcam: while the other dude turns around looking at everyone like:yayo:

That was where I wanted my 1st job to be was working in an arcade. You can mess around and spend your whole Friday night/Saturday afternoon there if you wasn't careful. I remember one time I had like $20 dollars. I got that shyt in tokens. I had a little Crown Royal looking bag like I had a damn treasure up in there. Man, it didn't get no better than that. :lawd: There are still a couple of arcades around. One is called Bumpernets here in Birmingham. They are not only an arcade but you can buy, sell, trade gaming video game systems. Basically anything for recreational use. You can get ping-pong tables and play them there too. Pinball machines, pool tables and accessories, anything you want.

You had your loudmouths that had they whole script ready when they beat yo ass.I still remember one of my first times playing street fighter in arcade.Dude kept telling me he was summoning the power of the dragon in a loud ass chinese voice and whooping my ass.And then you had your silent assassins that would beat yo ass.And not say nothing but cough or rub they nose after words which is almost just as bad.No better feeling than beating a random dudes ass especially when they trying hard as fukk and being all animated n shyt. And them having to walk away from the machine with their head down in shame.HaHa and that was the worst feeling in the world to walk away. You just had to charge it to the game and move on!I dont remember fisticuffs goin down at the arcade thou.Outside the arcade over other shyt but not over the game.
