ehhhh, even though I disagree with dude about the Egyptians he has a point.
People take the racial identity of the ancient Egyptians way too seriously, and the arguments you guys present are borderline retarded. Posting pictures of light skinned black celebrities and insisting that is what they looked like isn't "evidence," it's speculative nonsense.
The ancient Egyptians were a medium brown - semi dark skinned people who resided on the continent of Africa hence why they should be considered to be a "black" people by the characterizations of today. However, they definitely saw themselves as "different" from the rest of the people they lived next to, most of the people in here trying to claim an affinity with these people would get looked upon as an outsider by an Egyptian if you were around back then and probably enslaved.
Huh? We posted chronological dates, DNA evidence, and writing from ancient times, all from accredited sources like Oxford, National Geographic, and government websites. Not sure where you get the characterization that we just "posted pictures of light skinned black celebrities as evidence." How are you characterizing a civilization that existed for a strong 5000 years as a dominant force in the region. You mean to tell me they had the same mentality in 5000 AD as they did in 3000 AD or in 1400 AD? Wow, they must be the only people resistant to change.
I consider myself different than a Dominican or a Nigerian. A Ghanian is sure to consider himself different than a Black Brazilian. Are they not all Black? My mother and sister are most likely lighter than any Ancient Egyptian EVER was, are they not Black? And no, East Africans are not the only ones with claims to Egyptian heritage, it's been posted that Tut's genotype matches Southern Africans and those around the great lakes much more than the current East African population, more so because East Africa has had Arabs and other outside forces dilute the population. Why are White allowed to celebrate their historical diversity from the Greeks to the British to the French etc.... but Africans, who have in large part had their history erased and distorted, not allowed to feel pride in the longest standing civilization that built the pillars for everything after it? And no, people aren't just screaming about Ancient Egypt, did you see the post on all of the other African empires in the thread?
