He was a racist and should be remembered as such.

The "product of his time argument" is sickening.

When a certain "cause" takes a higher priority in one's life certain beliefs are tempered a bit. His cause was revolution, "helping" people who looked down upon was a by product. Would he have fought alongside Africans if his cause didn't demand it? I doubt it.

he cause was revolution mainly against capitalism and imperialism, correct? that being the case why after the Cuban revolution why didn't he go fight in any other of the Latin american countries (especially Bolivia his home country) where at the time there was a REAL demand for his cause, or any other country in the world, why would a racist who hates black chose Africa out of all places?

Is someone in here seriously defending Che and his beliefs by talking about him being a "product of his time" and going on to say he is one of the people in world history they have tremendous respect for?

The thing I love about you people is your shortsighted-ness.

Find me one person black, white or otherwise who hasn't made a few racist, sexist, homophobic or other remarks throughout their life. Comments alone cannot define the totality of a persons lived-in experience. I don't know where the Coli gets off on any sort of moral high court. when I log on and see fukkery every single day. Some of it trolling, a lot of it not. Everyone is a racist, the question should be how much of a racist Che was, not whether or not he was. I don't know too much about Che, but I doubt the guy was a super duper supremacist. He just seemed like a regular ass racist.

So do French soldiers and commanders in Mali are heroes and love Africans? The French president cares?

Think about what you're saying.

Che's goal was outright the destruction of capitalism, meh didn't give a fukk what he had to do or fight alongside.

if Che's only goal was the outright destruction of capitalism, then by extension he was fighting on behalf of black liberation everywhere from Alabama to Australia.

Afro-South Americans didn't have a problem with him or problem with putting him on their murals, t-shirts, etc. Everyone else opinion is irrelevant.
