I don't know cause I wasn't listening to them. I was on the east coast before the internet. If it wasn't on a mixtape or bootleg on 52nd in philly, I didn't hear itBecause the media has successfully brainwashed "the fans".
Also dont ask me dumb questions like WHY DO I CARE ABOUT INJUSTICES,cause i'm supposed to have a problem with it nikka.
In my mind illmatic,OB4cl,war report and a host of other east coast albums wernet classic in my life ,in my world. Those that oppose that thought will act as if it's a fact that they are, based off media influence.
Name me 10 west coast albums that sold like Illmatic and get similar props by "the fans" on here
or in the east coast media
If you can't,just STFU and go to sleep nikka
i heard and possessed illmatic in 94'mlike a few songs ,never loved the album. Never heard people bumping itNope...like illmatic is was more of a word of mouth classic in the streets.
everyone loved it and heard it...but it's not something that was played on TV or anything.
That was a good thing?
We giving props for biting. I rather give Kool g rap the props. i mean he was somebody, right?
people actually are that weak though, wtf you talking about lolI don't know cause I wasn't listening to them. I was on the east coast before the internet. If it wasn't on a mixtape or bootleg on 52nd in philly, I didn't hear it
I would never look to the source or any other mag to tell me what's classic. I don't find most of their classics to be my classics. Besides illmatic, none of the albums named were deemed classics by them
But I also wouldn't shyt on what west coast people said was classic. If they told me my eiht, quik, e40 and too short had classics that banged in Cali, I'd fukking believe them. Not try and tell them "nah that ain't no classic nikka" knowing I wasn't over there at the time.
Media bias influencing fans would mean too much. It would means fans never heard an album. Take Cuban links. They never heard it. But they read about it. And they keep reading and reading that it's a great timeless album. So they go listen to it. And even tho the music is avg to bad, they say it's amazing cause the media said so.
Nah. I'm not buying that. Maybe you can influence the weak. But there ain't gonna be generations of fans and rapper and media and execs, to all get behind avg music, for the sole purpose of hyping a fake classic
RD meant nothing, love the album though.Jay Z bits Illmatic, but Reasonable Doubt was still a classic. Biggie bits The Chronic but Ready to Die was still a classic. What are you arguing about? Mafiaso is a sub genre
in 93' quite a few songs of illmatic were considered underground classics before the official album dropped. It officially became my goat around then, but most people had no idea who nas was until IWWi heard and possessed illmatic in 94'mlike a few songs ,never loved the album. Never heard people bumping it
