The War Report was too regional to be that big outside NY. The biggest song off of the War Report is called top of NY. :usure:

I was 14 in 97'. Life After Death was big in the first half of 97'. Puff rode the rest in peace Big wave with No Way Out. Singles from No Way Out were inescapable in 97' the whole damn year :takedat:. Wu Tang Forever was a cult movement in the summer of 97'.

Master P Ghetto D opened the flood gates for Southern Rap to dominate for the next 20 years. P single handedly put New Orleans on the map in the national rap consciousness. War Report wasn't anywhere near as big as any of these albums nationwide.

I think there should be a medium there.

I think a lot of purist-based minds have a way of automatically disregarding a lot of music with mass appeal, if it doesn't fit their mold.

the result of that, is guys like @bigbadbossup2012. say what you want about em, but I agree with his main premise. its just that guys like him are so tired of the media & east coast biases, that they have manifested themselves into extremists
Yea I don't look at sales at all when I say something is classic

To be honest, maybe I should say personal classic, cause I mean, TO ME. For this instance, I kept saying east coast classic like 3-4 times. And dude kept telling me I'm lying. But every single person who was in the east at this time, considers it a classic.

And dudes from other coasts who come on drink champs, say they was banging it at the time. Which I'd normally say is some Hollywood dikk sucking. But then they have stories of when they heard it, spitting lyrics off it and talking bout actual times they met nore and told him this shyt back then when it was out.

But back to the point. Sales don't matter. Life after death is a classic. Wu tang forever is a classic. Makaveli is a classic. Chronic 1-2, doggystyle, MBDTF is a classic... but so is war report, let's get free, soul food and others.

If I can put on an album in 2017 and play it front to back with no skips. It's a classic album to me. It didn't have to change the world or have 1 million people purchase it.

these dudes were on a major label, and yall frontin like they were local yocals

rap fans didn't watch Rap City, or read any magazines?

in Miami they had these cats that would dub all the NY mixtapes

I remember sometimes I would just go to the record store and browse through shyt

dudes acknowledge that local cats were freestyling over the instrumentals. maybe because someone was actually up on the music and got copped those records

He was even on the Crooked Lettaz album

But those collabs always make me think of the skit from Pun's Endangered Species album

"We used to do records with nikkas we didn't even like"

Sgt Slaughter Slaughter, across the water, water...or is it border? I didn't even listen to the link, but haven't heard that track since like 98.

I'm just disappointed, that @bigbadbossup2012 seems to have a bit of contradiction in his agenda. u cant call out CNN, while turning a blind eye to UGK, 8ball & MJG.

that good ole competition.

and yea, the reunion album was a str8 banger. I used to say it was better than the war report too.

too bad, it just came out a lil too late.

how high are the prices?

really, we can get this made ourselves for prolly cheaper.
Like i said ,show me exactly what you're talking about regarding UGK.

Also,as long as you still big up illmatic and make excuses for it's failure, you shouldnt pretend to be so woke. You might be a lil woke to the bias, but if i can recall correctly, you were one of the nikkas trying to use bootlegging (in ny) as an excuse for illmatic's nationwide failure. Illmatic shouldnt be compared to MATW,Doggystyle or any real classic that did decent to great numbers and made real impact during it's run.

Yet you have no problem doing so.

I'm wrong? Name an west coast album that performed like that yet gets equal props.

As long as you're under that spell, dont act like you truly understand.
And yes i'm very extreme and it's justified by extreme east coast bias.

Why do you care what the media says? Nerds and nobodies who tell you what is classic and not...

Why don't you simply go off what the fans deem classic records? Or better yet.... yourself

Because the media has successfully brainwashed "the fans".
Also dont ask me dumb questions like WHY DO I CARE ABOUT INJUSTICES,cause i'm supposed to have a problem with it nikka.
In my mind illmatic,OB4cl,war report and a host of other east coast albums wernet classic in my life ,in my world. Those that oppose that thought will act as if it's a fact that they are, based off media influence.
Name me 10 west coast albums that sold like Illmatic and get similar props by "the fans" on here
or in the east coast media

If you can't,just STFU and go to sleep nikka
