breh, what are you even arguing about?

ive never seen the media crown CNN or the war report as a classic.

CNN weren't mainstream, so i wouldn't expect war report to be lauded as a classic all across the map.

commercial heads on the east coast weren't even up on CNN like that, so i wouldn't expect them to be running things in Kentucky.

whats funny is, the same people will turn around and pretend that duos like UGK, 8ball & MJG had national classics.

i mean urban crossover.
the stuff that gets play alongside r&b singles.

I'm not saying it was a pop smash or anything.

besides, the charts can be misleading. ESPECIALLY the singles charts.
The irony is they were though....not exactly running things, but they made enough of an impact there to have fans

Theres plenty of albums from that period that get props that weren't major sellers and aren't east coast. Common, Comptons Most Wanted, Spice 1, and Eightball & MJG all had albums that were considered classics that didn't get sell a lot

Nobody is gonna sit here and argue that a bunch of artists were bigger than Nas in 94. The one thing we will say is he might've had the best album of the bunch. No matter how you look at it Illmatic was never gonna be a commercial success even if it did fall short of expectations. It had no big singles. So what he had videos played on Rap City and Yo MTV Raps? So did everybody else. Redman had one of the best albums that year and he went gold. But he still wasn't as big as the artists you named. Does that mean his album flopped? No.
None of the bolded get the same level props as the others

You don't need hyperbole to make a point.

I was a much bigger hip hop head and and 8th grader all the way to HS graduation. i dont listen to my classics catalog nearly as m7ch as I used to and am no longer a purist...

But The Infamous is one of the best things I've EVER heard.
infamous is dope to me too. But meant little when it was out

A lot of so called "classics" from the east are just regional albums that new York bias make people believe were bigger and better than they were.

and again, they only aired it on rap city.

never on any other BET shows. never on MTV.

So the war report got the same rating as doggysyle and MATW?

lmao rofl lol
The bias man

ehh. different eras.

Kanye got 5 for a meh album. I believe bun b did as well.

and again, the bias is more stylistic than regional with these magazines & such.

for instance they gave doggystyle 4, but turned around and gave outkast 4.5......and they tried to give them 5, before benzino blocked it.

Which one of their albums gets the same props as the war report?

I don't see where all the war report media props are coming from to begin with. its moreso a peoples champion type of thing.

8ball's "lost" got a nod for album of the year at the source awards, just because it was a "triple cd".

Both of these hold up as classics right beside War Report.Even though it won awards i wasn't feeling that Lost album at all.
