The Rock doesn't have a classic role or movie yet...that ought to tell you all you need to know. I hate titles bestowed unto musicians/actors today when there are no other sharks in the water to even compete. Arnold had to swim with Stallone, Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Segal, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson etc (who all had classics) and dropped classics himself. None of his contemporaries reached his status. Rock doesn't even have to swim with any other action stars from multiple franchises. As a matter of fact he had to barge in and hitch a ride to an already establish franchise and do a spin off (which was not good). Its funny b/c people wait until publications or sites tell them how much actors earned and then give them the title of #1 this or that but ask them what's their favorite movie or tell them a classic and they can't do it. I wish Rock all the best but I really want him to start dropping better movies. Hopefully Black Adam will be his first classic.

The Rock is a icon..lol. Hype? Comical.
Dave Bautista has a better track record than the rock, I think hes got better acting skills too whereas Dwayne Johnson just plays himself in his roles

social media, and wrestling, sure. But, his ram being marketed as the movie star is mostly hype. He can sell a movie, but nowhere close to what Arnold was doing in his prime. The Rock’s most consistent success has been the Fast Franchise, which someone else built, and he was barely in the highest grossing one (Fast Seven). Jumanji was a team effort. Outside of San Andreas, what movie has done #’s solely because of the Rock? I think the Rock is a step below Will Smith in his prime, Will was making safe films, but those were all Will Smith movies, not Will Smith + 2-3 other actors in a pre-built franchise.

As successful as the Rock has been, he hasn’t really had the same type of iconic roles that Arnold was blessed with. Terminator, predator, and even Conan.
No hype if people considtnely pay to see him.

These are his top 10 grossing movies. Outside of San Andreas and Rampage, how many of those are “the rock” movies, in the way that every Arnold film was an Arnold film in his heyday. And these numbers show, he’s not even on prime Will Smith’s level. Will was matching these #s in 1996 money.
so again, the Rock is a star. Arguably the biggest out right now. But he’s not in the conversation with the likes of Arnold, Will, Cruze, or DiCaprio.
Aenold films are classics but no matter what, when Rock is in a movie, people go to see it.
