Was '99 the year when Wu Tang started to show cracks in the armor with jawns like Rae's Immobilarity, GZA's Beneath the Surface, Dirt's Ni$%a Please+

I liked Forever...but it took me a while to actually understand how great it is.

I was disgusted at releases like Immobilarity which had Rae rapping his ass off but mostly half ass beats, no Ghost, etc.

I still don't like Bobby Digital sans 3 or 4 songs. I hate the Bobby Digital alter ego, I wanted a fukking RZA solo. Killarmy's debut and La The Darkman's album were better than all the 1999 core member releases. Ghost finally righted the ship with SC

Rae disagrees, and Ghost has said similar shyt. They might have their problems with RZA but I agree completely with his feelings on the album. It's in his book, but he talks about it on Vlad, too. fukk Vlad, but I made an exception for this clip.

Rae my favorite Wu member but he's always been a curmudgeon

Forever could've been trimmed down some but they were lyrically at their peak, and there are so many bangers on there that when I sit down to do the 'trimming' for a playlist it's difficult (besides black shampoo :camby: )

97’ if we being honest

Most older heads won’t feeling Wu Forever

then the second wave of all those second solos and RZA’s Bobby Digital album was the nail in the coffin
Dudes didn’t feel Forever because it wasn’t 36 Chambers, that’s all. It’s the same way dudes didn’t feel IWW since it wasn’t Illmatic.

Rae also got a weird grudge against RZA, that I suspect stem from him realizing RZA was right all along but having too much pride to admit it :manny:

One of my favorite rappers ever but hard headed as hell and hasn't done well when he strayed too far from the W.

No doubt. Judging projects for what they ain't instead of appreciating what they are has caused a lot of hip hip fans to miss out on great albums.

A lot of the reasons were change in sound and heads felt like the album was bloated

with IWW, a lot of cats was feeling like Nas had sold out

This was the mid 90’s (96) when if anything sounded polished and lacked that vinyl basement feel, dudes would were instantly let down

Exactly...and had they made 36 Chambers part 2, other heads would hate on some "mannnnn it's not 1993 anymore...get these dusty ass beats outta here"

Same with IWW

Same how ppl hate on Casino for being both "too much like Goodfellas" but also for not being Goodfellas at the same time. Like just enjoy the movie

Projects International Version is better, but both are dope to classic, down to the absurdity of Ghost's obscene ass verse :russ:

Duck Season is one of my favorites on the album...Rae went ape

Deadly Melody was always classic to me, throwback gritty Wu Banga

Heaterz is the best non-RZA produced Wu track of all time, was an instant classic to me

Even Second Coming is dope af to me b/c that beat :wow:

Ghost verse on Projects is absolutely classic. Ping pong p*ssy, wide world of wombs :mjlol:

Didn't want to go too over the top in the praise but yeah Deadly Melody, Duck Season and Heaterz could all be elevated :wow:

Album was special and that become more obvious as the years pass. My boys from high school still send quotes from Forever in our group text. Keep a Gambino Playstation in your playpen :russ:

We didn't want 36 Chambers, we just wanted the quality level of Liquid Swordz and OB4CL. To this day, Forever doesn't get played 1/10th as much as those albums.
