Earlier on ‘Morning Joe’, Joe Scarborough insinuated that the Trump administration had this guy killed.

i really do feel like this is going to escalate the deterioration of diplomacy between saudi and turkey. theres a lot of other factors here too like saudis cozying to israel, disagreements over the impact of the two on Syria, increasing turkish closeness with iran and russia, and erdogan presenting himself and turkey (not saudi) as the true defenders of islam globally. interestingly saudi and turkey are both kind of moving in the opposite direction of how theyve historically interacted with religion.

MBS is going to be the reason why the House of Saud will fall. He is aggressive and ambitious but he lacks vision and direction for his policies hence why all his policies so far have failed. He wants to do economic reforms, while at the same time spend massive amounts of money fighting the war in Yemen and a proxy war with Iran, and increase defence spending to confront Iran in a time of low oil prices. He pushed for a war in Yemen that has become a quagmire. 1000 Saudi soldiers dead, billions spent on the war to train the anti houthi forces, pay the salary of the Hadi government etc. The war has become an ulcer for the Saudi state that will bring the nation down financially. Secondly, his vision 2030 is going behind schedule. He had to cancel the Saudi Aramco IPO and push till 2021. He has passed austerity measures in the kingdom but at the same time has gone massive spending sprees buying yachts and Da Vinci. Reports are that MBS is so afraid of his life that he spends more time at his yacht in Jeddah. He has alienated his royal family members with the Ritz Carlton fiasco basically robbing them for their wealth. He has alienated Qatar a small but wealthy nation who is joining the Turkey-Iran axis. Which I warned if it were to happen will have devastating consequences for the GCC. In the end under MBS reign the Hous of Saud will fall.
Ibn Khaldun muslim scholar from the 6th century described how dynasties fall
As Ibn Khaldun put it:

[T]he life of a dynasty does not as a rule extend beyond three generations. The first generation retains the desert qualities, desert toughness, and desert strategy. … They are sharp and greatly feared. People submit to them. … [T]he second generation changes from the desert attitude to sedentary culture, from privation to luxury and plenty, from a state in which everybody shared in the glory to one in which one man claims all the glory for himself while the others are too lazy to strive for glory. … The third generation … has completely forgotten the period of desert life and toughness, as if it never existed…. Luxury reaches its peak among them, because they are so much given to a life of prosperity and ease.

Decadence leads to collapse as fierce nomadic fundamentalists gather in the desert and prepare to mete out punishment to the city dwellers for their religious laxity. “[A] new purge of the faith is required,” summed up Friedrich Engels, who evidently read Ibn Khaldun, “a new Mahdi [i.e., redeemer] arises, and the game starts again from the beginning.”

It’s a recurrent cycle that has held true for a remarkable number of Muslim dynasties from the seventh century on.
MBS has imprisoned a lot of fundamentalist clerics in the kingdom and best believe they are forming alliances with jihadist groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda in those same prisons. MBS represents the 3rd generation that will fall. When the shyt hits the fan in Saudi Arabia in 10-15 years it will be a crisis that will be worse than Syria,Yemen,Iraq,Liba combined. Best beleive regional powers like Iran and Turkey will take advantage of that when that day comes. And the US will be forced to intervene. Mind you that after Yemen Saudi Arabia is the second most armed society in the mideast. That is right not Syria or Iraq,Saudi Arabia. All MBS has is the support of the people. Because he promises the youth and people a better economy and better future. If for whatever reason that doesn't happen and there is deep economic hardship shyt will pop off.
