You left out devin, boosie, cee lo, charles and then some.

I just finish bumping some styles yesterday, grew up on BG and Soulja Slim. Again what drake does in his songs as far as opening up (mostly when it comes to chicks) is different from what most other rappers have done and are doing. The fact most rappers can't get on a track and sing to an ex alone is proof enough. But not just with women but just success and failure.

for the most part drake gets clown because he's goofy and personal in his raps. Its the same reason he gets love, other rappers have a image to protect or just aren't as inviting or open without trying to be swagged out or sound cool. Every rapper you listed is on that thug ish, with a side of being personal. Drake is pretty much the opposite of that.

Charles and drake are probably the two most personal or "everyday" type of nikka in the rap game.
If u just talking bout chicks cool. And everybody don't love every bytch like drake does. These hood dudes, these dudes fukk bytches and keep moving, drake just started fukkin black chicks once he became a rapper. That why he use to fall in love wit all of them.

Slim And bg always been open about being drugged out junkies. Just cause drake a cornball u seem to except his openness more than there's, which is clown shyt.

Also people like to say "Drake was fire out the gate". No he wasn't. He dropped a single and it flopped. At that time Trey Songz was up and coming too but he had a couple of hit RnB songs and 2 albums that sold pretty well. So that was a big feature for an unknown at the time. He went down south and revamped his image. Got the Wayne co-sign and the rest is history.

nikka's show you love and respect for being open about being junkies, I've grown up around it, all my nikka's rapped about it. It was " the cool thing to do" I can stick my hand into a rap basket full of CD's and pull out album after album of nikka's being personal about drugs, guns, sex, money and hood life.

And oh average nikka rapping and singing about his truths and that's talented is gonna catch my ear. If thats clown shyt:manny:

Has Drake actually been video tapped writing lyrics or recording a song? :heh:

He's next to the GOATs in the sprite campaign but where's the "the making of Nothing was the same" documentary?

Now I'm a big fan of Drake but this nikka lost a few points with me on this shyt like to me to be a rapper and have a ghostwriter takes away big from the artistry like if you think about it that's like some random nikka drawing a basquiat painting and basquiat just adding in the colours. Just like funk said you can be a good pop artist but you can never be a great lyricst which in my eyes drake could of been. Now don't get me wrong i'm a still fukk with the nikka because he's got people that make great music for him. But there's a reason this nikka hardly freestyles and when he did it was off the berry now it makes me think a nikka emailed the nikka the verse be for he went in there with flex :rudy:.

Yeah, I imagine all these dudes are recording tons of songs and Drake probably just sifts through them on some "I'll take this hook, that verse, and use this cadence" :troll:

Reminds me of a more polished approach to all the new Gucci mixtapes where he clearly is taking (old) verses meant for different songs and throwing them over new beats and hooks :ehh:
:russ: Drake on some Mr. Potato Head shyt :mjlol:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Its different with drake because he's a bit more open with Taking L's and being ok with it on tracks. I dont think anyone else really did that outside of scarface....and if they did rap about it, it wasn't them themselves taking the L but another nikka or character

Scarface
Tupac
Drake
Buddens

are probably some of the most personal rappers to date.

Krit raps about his L's directly. And he has to balance it out between a industry that's comprised primarily of braggadocio and bravado -- maintaining that in his music -- and be earnest about his lack of commercial success. Drake can rap about his L's in a retrospective sense, because of the status he's attained. Nearly all of his talk of losses are prefaced by some, "You remember when," narrative. It's not really the exploration of something, but a cursory reflection of some event that happened in his life prior to fame.

He can't make anything like:

Because he doesn't have to source material to do so.

"Feel like I failed y'all and it's hard to live with it." :mjcry:
