nah i am tryna understand what you consider young.v.old

all the artist mentioned career started at least 10 years after major figgas had a hit

gillie is a old.head who is tryna stay young & really gillie/wallow are playing that up for comedic effect

Gillie don't know shiit about music. He listens to rapper who he thinks the people think are hot.

Dude has a very limited range when it comes to music.
Y’all wrong as hell about Gillie. Gillie is known and has always been known as a nikka that stays on the pulse. Every single new young rapper from Philly, came through gillie, came to him for help, he brought to radio first, all that. From nikkas who was on dvds and probably 40 now, to Lil Uzi before he blew.

On top of that, every single show starts off with a new exclusive song. Always a young cat. Never once does it sound like 90s era music. And he interviews a bunch of young cats. I don’t even remember too many legends coming on. and he calls these dudes on live and talks with them too.

That’s exactly how you stay relevant. Keep your ass involved with all the new cats, big them up, be down to help, and don’t ever act bitter. All these young dudes see Gillie as an old head they respect and fukk with. While they look at other rappers the same age, as straight haters. That’s how he’s always angled himself. Hence million dollars worth of game

These youngsters are making music that sounds just like Ren & Tin - The Hoe Is Mine from the Brown Sugar movie but worst.

In what world is Gillie relevant?
The world where he hasn’t had a hit record ever in life and had one group album in 2000….. yet in 2021 has a top podcast, 2 million followers on IG, put his cousin on to get his own million, and is pretty much known and respected among new and old rappers.

Or were you thinking making rap records is the only way a rapper can be relevant?

He's not the only one in Philly to do that though. In most cases, Philly kept the tradition of fukkin with the young'uns. Free, Oschino, Spade, Mike Knox, Chris, Cass, Thought, etc have all worked with younger dudes, unsigned dudes. The only ones that didn't reach back like that were Beans & Meek.

But he flip flops too. He listens to his peers. He doesn't give them as much attention as he does the youth, and in a way, that's biased too. There's no way you feelin everybody's music that has a name and little buzz But his podcast is now more of the keeping with the times.
