I'm sorry but this is a silly comparison. I think it has nothing to do with generation and just simply how a person was raised. It's common sense to not leave your table dirty ash. It's gross. And I definitely judge people who do

This is a comparison that has me scratching my head.

More than a few people acting as though cleaning up the table is a flex on being raised right. When guests came in your home, did your parents have them clean up?

Unless it was close family or friends who are pretty much family, it is the norm for the host to handle those things.

What you're inadvertently revealing is that you don't know the basics of extending hospitality.

They're all almost dead. :what: How y'all always beefing with 70+ year old people? Probably because you're still living in their basements.

Not exactly, but more in line with the thread topic ; i do recall my parents cleaning up before various cleaning people came in the house. It was very different value system for their generation.

I have this vivid memory of my mother hurrying to get me and my siblings to start vacuuming and pre-cleaning the carpets before the carpet cleaning company came to bsically do the same thing:mjlol:

Even the few times i shared a hotel room with them as a kid, i recall them doing precleaning before the literal cleaning maid entered the room.:russ:

The previous examples are more in-line with the thread topic. As for guests coming to my parents home, it was always kind of expected that after a get together the women would go into the kitchen to help with cleanup. Admittedly , male adult guests werent expected to do anything; and occasionally children were drafted to clean also. And this in addition to whatever the host was already cleaning

BOOMERS DO THAT FOR A REASON. IF EVERYBODY CLEANED UP THEIR OWN TABLE, THERE WOULDN'T BE A JOB FOR THE BUS BOY. I DON'T GO OUT OF MY WAY TO MAKE THE JOB DIFFICULT FOR A PERSON BUT I DON'T DO THEIR JOB EITHER.

I DON'T LIKE WHEN PEOPLE DO MY JOB EITHER.

Cut off year is 1964. So they are 59 or about to turn 59 this year. Gen Xers are the bulk of the 50 year olds and who a lot of people confuse as boomers.

1946-1964 = Baby Boomers
1965-1980 = Gen X/Slackers
1981-1996 = Millennials
1997-2012 = Gen Z

I mean…I definitely clean my home before the cleaning service arrives 🤣
You don’t want to look like an absolute slob

And yea, women generally clean after a gathering.

I had to wait until 2am to do the dishes at a family gathering because the men wouldn’t take their drinking asses off to sleep. For whatever reason they wanted to gather in the kitchen/breakfast room after the meal and I literally forced myself to stay awake so that I could clean so my aunt wouldn’t have to worry about it in the morning.

I used to bus tables.

You have the plastic bin thing where you put the dishes. You wipe off the table and throw away the trash.

Is stacking the fukcing plates gonna make the job easier?

The regular act of gathering the dishes takes like 5 seconds.

And you STILL have to throw away the trash and wipe down the table.

What about uneaten food? Do I want you to stack a plate on top of a pile of mashed potatoes? Maybe not.

Anyway. These "boomers do this" posts online are annoying. A fukcing Baby Boomer is a full on senior citizen. Let them leave the table how they want. I wish someone would get in my mothers face about some stupid shyt like this. Get Russian Sickled.

Fact of the matter is there's clear cultural differences that could show themselves in things like this. Gen Z & Millennials are the most self-conscious gens on record, more likely to care what people think and more likely to think about others in general

Boomers grew up the complete opposite then factor in they're old as shyt. Old people will tell you how little they care about things if you talk to them lol. They've seen everything so they're just waiting for the number to get called.

Nobody's saying all Zoomer & Boomer tables will look like that but that's not shocking

If I was bussing tables and your musty mama made a mess of my area, I'd slap the hard candies outta her on the spot and tell her to call her pea head son so he can feel it too :mjlol:
