He played college ball, he's been a sports writer for like 20 years, and he's well connected. Contrary to popular opinion he's not some dummy that doesnt know what he's talking about

Find me one Well-Known Journalist who fit this description....Just one
I was talking about the context of him being on that show.
Where did he play ball?
Winston-Salem State
Stephen A. Smith came to Winston-Salem State University planning to make a name for himself as a basketball player under the tutelage of the legendary Clarence "Big House" Gaines. A knee injury and a suspect jump shot, according to Coach Gaines, shelved his quest for stardom.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ cats trotting out his tenure as a bum at a bum school and his 20 years as a journalist as proof positive that he's good at what he does. A lot of people are successful yet terrible at what they do, it all depends on the cultural climate at the time. And what does anyone mean by "credentialed" journalist? That he has a press pass? This dumb ass, lazy, wannabe celeb was fired and had to sue to get his job back because he was filing shytty columns about local sports shyt from the road while trying to indulge his quest for celebrity. Then he went begging, hat in hand, for whatever gimmick role he could play on any other show, including being the chief conservative c00n on FOX. Anyone who actually knows anything about him or his career knows he's a charlatan and a bunk ass journalist. This would be like seeing Yinka Dare host a PG camp and evaluating him as "credentialed" and saying he "knows his stuff" because the nikka played in the NBA at one point.
Steppin A. Fetch is credentialed and excellent at being the HNIC (Head nikka Into c00ning), and that's about it.
Aint a gatdayum thing I said changed.Ethics from the Society of Professional Journalists:

Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort. Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance.
Clarify and explain news coverage and invite dialogue with the public over journalistic conduct.
Encourage the public to voice grievances against the news media.
Admit mistakes and correct them promptly.
Expose unethical practices of journalists and the news media.
Abide by the same high standards to which they hold others.
Dude crosses these lines OFTEN when being on that show. Nothing he does on First Take represents journalism. He's an entertainer on TV.
Falling back on being a journalist in the past has nothing to do with what he presently does on TV. It has NOTHING to do with journalism....everything to do with being an entertainer.
He is NOT a journalist when he's on TV. I grew up with cats who were ASSASSINATED during their pursuits of journalism. Stephen A Smith gives them a bad name when he touts it on TV fronting as if his First Take performances puts him within their ranks.
He is NOT a journalist when he's on that show.
