Wow i read on realgm its for ryan anderson so thats our PF that can shoot and we free up the logjam of guards for now. Is this is our only move im cool with that

Lmao Ryan Anderson makes Olynyk look like AK47.

So we save 5 million on a buyout next season because they’re both signed to two more years...

I mean...so we traded TJ’s contract for Ryan’s? Seems mostly lateral but ok.

We gave up Ellington and TJ for Anderson...and got no picks or anything back? :gucci:

We couldn’t get a 2nd rounder or a decent pick for Ellington??

For a 30 year old that’s averaging 3.7 PPG, shooting 20% from 3, and averaged 3 REB in 18 minutes on the Suns?

Tell me there’s more to this.

We're not in the position of power right now when it comes to trade so don't expect us to get fair l value in return.

I'm sure Ellington was a throw-in for them to take on Tyler Johnson's contract

These nikkas swear they know it all :russ:

I mean, we took on a contract that’s on a similar level of bad for a player that’s much worse than TJ while also giving up what we assumed was one of our few assets in Ellington. :yeshrug:

Most of us said we’d probably have to take on a trash contract or give up something. Ellington is better loss than future draft picks, I guess.

Does this mean we're under the tax now that we know Wayne is gone too?

Don't think we make any other moves if that's the case. Maybe we bring in a vet on the minimum or convert one of the two way guys to a standard contract since we'll only be at 13 players after the trade.

trade was all about the tax. micky not trying to pay it. trade does nothing for us on the court and barely helps in cap space for next year. Anderson is guaranteed about 16 million of his 20 million next year, where as TJ was gonna be 20 million next year

edit:

I think we’re way closer to being under by a couple million but not quite yet.

Don’t expect any other vet signings, this deal is pretty much a way to clear space and keep us under the luxury tax or repeater tax for free signings in a season or two.

TJ’s contract was trash so we had to give up an asset to get rid of it but it’ll help Arison’s pockets in a couple years.

idk if i like losing ellington

Yeah, it sucks but when you give out trash contracts, you can’t give them away for free. Ask the Lakers who had to give up Russel to move Mosgov.

This doesn’t help at all on the court. Anderson was so trash that even Harden couldn’t make him look playable. TJ and Ellington are much better on the court. This is mostly for tax relief. It doesn’t free up space for moves because no team is gonna give up an asset for Ryan Anderson.

Don't think they'll run with just 13 players the rest of the season, especially if we're still in "playoff" contention. We need a couple more bodies now, even if it's just for practice. Riles is probably still cooking on the phones trying to make another deal. Either way, this deadline has been a win for us.

How? It’s mostly a win for Arison because he gets tax relief but it doesn’t give us any cap relief, we lost two rotation players for a guy who can barely stay on the court, and Ellington is definitely worth more than just tax relief.

The past to trade deadlines have been mostly mad dashes for tax relief because of the Ugly contracts we handed out.

I mean, even if you buy him out next year, 15 million is still owed so we’re not really getting much cap relief either.

But shyt I’ve been wrong before. What do you like about the deal? Maybe I’m looking at it the wrong way.
